Apparently these are the DOS controls:

Arrow keys move, Enter key attacks for Player 1

Backward up + enter = Knife throw
up + enter = overhead slash
forward up + enter = Upward stab (good for dragon)
forward down + enter = Long stab
backward down + enter = block
down + enter = side step (evades stabs and overhead swings)
back + enter = backwards stab (faster than turning around to slash
forward + enter = slash.

I tried to play with an Xbox controller but while I could move and attack, I don't know if all the attacks work with the controller. Also interacting with the menus is tricky, I haven't figured out that part yet.

The issue is that initially the game was designed for the Amiga joystick so the DOS controls are a bit weird (to me).

And last but not least, my initial impression is that this game is Dark Souls level of difficult.

Also, here's how to skip the intro:

Sound like it´s easier to turn on WINUAE....
I'm currently using an Afterglow Xbox 360 Controller and have used the same controller on quite a few GOG Games and never had issues with my controller.

However as soon as I load up Moonstone my controller goes nuts and when I do manage to get into the game it just pulls my character over to the Right and Down.

I've tried fighting against it and managed to get in a few hits but its virtually impossible to win, but when you do you cant select any of the other Knights gear or gold because the cursor just flies all over the place.

Any advice and if so could you possibly tell me it in plain sentences as I'm still fairly new to PC's and Laptops but played this game when it first came out on the Amiga and loved it. I bought it as soon as I saw the post on FB and was really looking forward to catching up on a bit of nostalgia.

Many thanks
When I finish the intro and land in the menu, the "down" control is constantly being pressed, and I can't do anything :(
I used an Xbox One controller and it worked well. It seemed sometimes that the cursor is accelerated somehow, but it was ok. I admit that I only played for a bit because I can't get comfortable with the control scheme at all.

Also someone mentioned this on another post:
Change timed=true to timed=false under [joystick] in dosbox_moonstone.conf.

I did that before even trying to use my Xbox controller so I don't know how the controller works without that modification.
