So, I just started playing World of Xeen, and I've noticed some graphical issues. First, the mouse cursor flickers near the top of the screen. Second, in the character menu, if I put the cursor near the top of the screen, it seems to go under the menu. The buttons can still be clicked, but it's a bit annoying. I'm not sure if te third thing is a glitch or not, but the hidden parts of the automap look like they're in the wrong place. In case it helps, I'm using Dosbox SVM-Daum.

I remember having the cursor disappearing near the top problem too and in MM3.

This was posted by someone having the same problem:

and this offers some solutions too

That fixed the cursor, but now I have another issue: this game seems to be rather unstable. So far, it's crashed twice, frozen once, and has almost frozen a few times. Is that normal, or is there something wrong?
It's not normal.

Have you tried changing the graphics setup? Surface/overlay/opengl/ddraw. See if changing it helps.
I've decided to see if the full voice version works better
i thought this was about the full voice version.

I haven't played the non-full voice, but it uses the same engine.

Let us know if that worked.
Well, the voice version is just as unstable, and changing the graphics mode didn't help
Have you tried using the regular DOSBox that GOG ships the game with instead of SVN?
No, due to lack of MT-32 support
If you disable MT-32 support, do the crashes stop? If no, do the crashes stop if you also switch to the DOSBox that ZFR mentioned?
Well, switching to regular Dosbox doesn't seem to have helped.
So, despite changing nothing, the game suddenly stablized to the point where I could beat Clouds. Then I closed Dosbox, and the issues are back. And the attached image shows one of the crashes which had a... visually interesting result. I think I'm just going to save often.

Did you try my post above? Change graphics mode options? Surface/overlay/opengl/ddraw.
Yep. Nothing changed.
Well, I endured, and managed to beat it. Overall, I had more fun with Terra, but I think that if Xeen didn't crash 10 times a hour, I would have had more fun with it. Now, time to wait for the first Heroes game to go on sale.
