Thanks for the info downloaded patch and its great to have mouse look in the game. Going to go play this and complete it again as been years since i did that but now feels like a new game again.

Also the music is great so be looping all the time :)
Edit:

Just for kicks I installed my cd version and moved the mp3 files to its install ( since I own both thats ok right? :p ) And installed this patch and everythign works perfectly. This means that there may be some compatibility issues wiht the gog version.

below is gog versiono with some mention of 1.1 and 1.2 issues.

for those who get the occasional sound distortion or even crash when playing acromage, this patch seems to make it worse. I do not think the cause of this crash was ever found so the generic advice seems to apply. However I know from personal experience that it carries over to many different computer configurations and setting acceleration to basic or off does not solve it, nor does using the generic miles sound setting. So I can't say I know why some people never experience it.

Unfortunantly moks 1.2 xp patch requires cd access so if you do not havea cd your out of luck, and chances are you bought gogs version to keep the cd safe ( like I did )

So if you are in my boat and play 1.1 just remember one very important thing if you choose evil path... finish lich quest before you finish the soul jar quest!

other od issues you may find if your xp, windows mode crashes in 800x600 or smaller resolution, and full screen software mode cause the house videos to get distorted after selecting an option ( minor.. just ooh and ahh before you select anything heh ). If it wasn't for the acromage issue I would definantly recommend the 1.51 patch to avoid all this heh.

If you want to invert Y axis using mouse look, you can use a negative value in MouseSensitivityY setting. Mine is:

MouseSensitivityY=-50
Where is the mm7.cfg file?

How to edit it?

It is .ini file instead. Open it with WordPad (or notepad).

So after I installed this, the trainer I was planning to use has no effect in-game now (it did before). It shows the new values on everything in the editor, but when I get into the game nothing has changed.

This is the editor I'm using: http://neptune.spaceports.com/~fax/fin/mightmagic7.htm

Any ideas?

EDIT:

And yes, I hit Apply in the Character sections.

Did you Save the changes before exitting MM7CHE ?

Save? I have Open, Cancel, and About on the main window, Add All/Remove All/Ok/Cancel on the window I get when I use Open, and Ok/Cancel/Apply/Help in the Character window itself.

As well, it has worked before just with the Apply usage, and the saved data/values show up every time I open the save file (I've tried changing them and they do retain said changes).

I can't imagine what might be causing this. Was there something in the patch that changed some underlying game fundamentals?

Thank you immensely, Kezardin. Your link helped me solve my problem.

For anyone who encounters this problem themselves, it was a Windows 7 problem where I had to run the Editor as an Admin. I had been wondering about that, but had dismissed it since the data seemed to be writing to the save file, according to the Editor. I checked again, after I enabled Admin, and it was the in-game values the save was showing when I booted it up.

I know I should try to enjoy the M&M games without cheats, which I have in the past, but as me replaying them is primarily due to nostalgia, I feel like I just want to breeze through the game, maybe find a bit of challenge in the latter part of it, and experience the storyline.
There would be in a not so long time another version of GrayFace MM7 Patch (1.6?):
GrayFace: Posted: Thu Jun 23: (...) the fix for party movement. In the upcoming release version I'll fix NPCs as well.
Hail GrayFace!!
Version 1.6.1
[+] feature, [-] fixed bug

[+] Major mouse look update. (see bottom of ReadMe for details)
[+] MouseWheelFly option lets you fly up and down by scrolling your wheel.
[+] Quick load. QuickLoadKey option controls the quick load key.
[+] AutorunKey (F3 by default) turns on/off autorun, like in MMORPGs.
[+] When run in 32 bits color mode automatically switches to 16 bits in Windowed mode.
[+] Identify Monster shows monster resistances numbers now.
[+] PaletteSMul and PaletteVMul options let you change how bright or colorful the game looks. HSV representation of colors is used.
[+] Now Turn Delta is set to Smooth by default.
[-] Strafes and walking worked badly on some machines due to rounding issues. Same thing with NPCs walking.
[-] Autosave was done after the cost of transport is withdrawn.
[-] Waiting (using Rest dialog) used to recover characters twise as fast.
[-] Key strokes could be ignored if some other programs run at the same time and use the same keyboard access method.
[-] A rare case of "negative/0" caused a crash in stats screen.
[-] Keys configuration loading finally fixed (the fix of previous version didn't work right).
[-] Lloyd Beacon used to autosave game after decreasing spell points and adding recovery delay.
[-] Town Portal used to autosave game after adding recovery delay.
[-] Town Portal triggered autosave even within when teleporting within current location.
[-] Some players experienced a beam of Prismatic Light that doesn't disappear.
[-] My bug: In mouse look mode mouse could leave window when moved fast.
Thanks GrayFace (for including my comments, by mail or in this forum, about sensitivity of alternative mode of MouseLook).

Why not make a patch for the GOG version and post it up here so that all things are working with the GOG version?
[edit]
Neeeeevermind, i was using MM7-Rel.exe instead of mm7.exe.

In case anyone was wondering what the hell this was about:
I couldn't strafe, nor was the mouselook working. Because i was dumb.

This is an awful lot to go through just for one patch. In the past I just needed to download a patch from the Internet, apply a couple of changes, and I was good to go.

Based on the responses I'm hearing from people here, it sounds that the changes needed to make this game more enjoyable are more complicated than they should be.

Especially just to hear the music in-game. I mean cmon, not all of us are experienced computer users.
