I've also beaten Swords of Xeen and HOMM2, the later of which was a very long time ago.
I've beaten them all except MM1, MM2, and MM9. Congratulations on completing MM6!

I've beaten MM1-7. MM8-9 I've owned for years, but never gotten around to playing (I'm on my way through the whole series again now, though... so they're coming up).

I've also beaten HoMM1-2 campaigns. HoMM3 came out sometime before or after I was in college, so I was too busy to finish that one and unfortunately never returned to the campaigns (but played many a hot seat game).

I started Swords of Xeen once but I got frustrated with the difficulty and quit. I'm playing World of Xeen again right now, so this time I'm going to finish Swords.

Anyone have an opinion on Dark Messiah of Might & Magic? I found it on Amazon a couple weeks ago for $5 w/ free shipping, so I bought it.
I'd suggest replaying SoX on Adventurer level. I don't know if it will help at all, but it can't hurt. It really did feel like the difficulty level was completely out of whack given how scarce experience points are. I killed everything in the game and finished at level 40. How are you supposed to take on Earth Blasters and Tidal Terrors at level 40 without resorting to cheesy tactics?
I've completed part 1-7 and SoX.

I haven't played it but I've heard very good things.

As for the club, I've beaten all the games except MM3, which I will get to eventually. I played 4-6 a while back, then bought this pack and went through 1 and 2. I'm going to keep going through MM3 and Xeen and Swords of Xeen (which I've never played).

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll definitely try it on Adventurer this time. I'm not trying to impress anyone with my l33t skillz. ;^)

I've heard it's a mixed bag, but my love for the series can cover over a multitude of faults (heck, I'm determined to play MM9 and HoMM4 this year, so that just goes to show you). Assuming what you heard is from other MM fans, then that's great news.

It wasn't from other MM fans but rather various games journalism sites including Rock, Paper, Shotgun. What I've heard is that while the game has flaws its original ideas and gameplay mechanics are interesting enough to make up for the faults.

I don't know how much relevance the game has to MM lore.
I've finished 1 & 2, but 3 onwards are my favourites. I'm making a M&M 3-8 run each summer holiday :P
I deny existence of MM9 and Crusaders ><

Regarding Messiah, lore-wise it's connected to HoMM V. But I think Ubisoft completely scrapped old MM lore and started anew with its own games.
And it's a completely different game, action-oriented for starters. I had a lot of fun with it (soo many ways to let environment kill your enemies *_*) but it's a matter of taste.
I wasn't even born when the first lot of Might and Magics came out. I have beaten Might and Magic 6, 7, and 9. I did buy the other Might and Magics from this site a few days ago that I never got to play, so one day I will have beaten them all. Might and Magic 6 is my favourite.

Despite people hating on 9, I had fun playing through the whole game years ago. I don't like the art that much, and the comedy was recycled, but it was still fun.

Not much of a fan of the spin-offs, Legends, Crusaders and Dark Messiah, but I do love the older Heroes of Might and Magic games, 2 is my favourite. Well, I do love the spin-off card game, I still have the CD-Rom version I bought from the 3DO site years ago. Loooooove that one!

DoMM won't feel like Might and Magic at all, but it's a fun action RPG. I enjoyed the way the environment was worked in as a weapon. There are a few tricks you can use in a pinch. Mainly those tricks involve kicking enemies into things (spikes, fires, off cliffs) but you can drop stuff on them as well.

I replayed DoMM recently. It seemed almost like it was intended to be more of a traditional RPG but the idea was dropped perhaps? Still, it's definitely enough game to have $5 worth of fun with.

MM8 is probably your best bet for enjoying a true Might and Magic experience. Letting characters begin with light and dark magic is WAY overpowered. You should enjoy it. There are also the dragons. For added difficulty, you should replay it using only one character. That can get pretty exciting.
Completion of part VI took me 5 years.... ;)

I hae beaton Swords and Xeen to MM9.I am so happy to be playing these games again on my laptop. For years I wanted to play these games again. I think they are the best RP's My biggest help is get everyone get bows for everyone clear out side the 1st town and hop on the ship to get the water walking spell and move your magic people quickly to their areas.
I haven't actually finished any of them but I don't really finish games, period. And I certainly WON'T be finishing 1 and 3, because I have like every other game from the six pack BESIDES those two (and also already sort of read the rather-excellent Let's Play of M&M1 which you should all check out because it's great).
I'm on my way, at least 15 min a day up to an hour (more occasionally), I will definately play through the whole series. As of now I only finished VII and was near the end of VIII. Now I'm exploring the cave near Sorpigal in the first part. LOVE OLD DOS GAMES, PERIOD! THanks GOG for making this experience possible!
