Hi folks,

Maybe someone of you encountered this before.

I'm experiencing general slowness while playing MM6. Intro and launching are slow, the game itself is choppy, as if frame rate was low.

I noticed two things--
1) the game doesn't launch after first click but always on second try to launch it,
2) after launching MM6, other MM games installed on my computer also slow down. After restart, everything is fine with other games as long as I don't try to run MM6.

I'm using my old "gog only" satellite l300 laptop with win 7. This is the first time I have encountered this problem.
Thanks!

Since you need to launch it twice and your PC becomes slow thereafter, I suspect that one or more applications or processes keep on running in the background. Please, double check your Task Manager before and after launching the game. The game must run at the first launch.

Speaking of solutions, you could try running the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP or similar.
Another possible solution could be installing the GrayFace MM6 Patch: it should improve the compatibility with modern systems.

Thank you for the advice. I did try all possible compatibility modes and grayface patch as well. I checked the task manager and indeed there are two processes that are slowing the system down--one is mm6.exe and the other is rundll32.exe. when I stop the rundll process, the system goes back to normal but then again, when I try to launch the game, it doesnt start on first try but runs rundll which again slows the computer down.
According to many posts on the net, you are experiencing a Windows 7 issue, not related to this particular game.

I'll post some links with possible solutions:

Thank you very much for all the links -- that's why I love this forum:):)! Now I know the problem was caused by trying to play offline while the game explorer tries to gather info about the game. When the computer is online, the game starts normally. I will definitely try some of the workarounds just to be sure I can play without wireless access (switching off the explorer didn't help).

Thanks again:)
