My version is setup_mm8_2.0.0.13

If you know the game, there is a mission to choose alliance between dragons and dragon hunters in Garrote Gorge. The condition is to bring the dragon egg to the leader of either party.

When giving the egg either to dragons or hunters, there should be a different animation played. But I don't see it in the GOG version of MM8. The screen goes black, as if animation is gonna start, then it returns back to the game. And the mission is complete and the game continues.
All the other MM8 animations have no problem, only these 2 related to the dragon egg mission.

I wonder if anyone else has the same issue, or know a solution to watch the animation.
It is a minor issue because it doesn't stop you from finishing the game, I admit. But as I spend time for this game, I'd wish to see every part of it, and hope to help the game and gog getting better. That's why I made this post.

p.s. I want to upload my saved game, just in case someone wants to try out. But it seems this is not allowed. Only pictures can be attached. Let me know if you want to receive it via email from me.

Yes, other people have had the same issue:
https://www.gog.com/forum/might_and_magic_series/might_and_magic_viii_issue_cutscene_not_playing/

It seems to be something wrong with Gog's edition of the game. I tested on my CD version and that cinematic played fine.

Thanks for your reply. Gladly to see other people also raised the same issue to gog like me.

It is a pity that gog cannot make MM8 perfect. More than that, the issue was raised in 2014, (The other issue about Escaton's Palace was raised in 2012 based on the post time), and now at 2017 the issues are still there. I wonder gog will ever work on it.
Sometimes I feel gog is trying to make itself another Steam. But imho its true value is with those good old games. Hope they can spend more efforts to make the old classic games perfect.

Anyways, thanks for your Youtube video:

At least I can see 1 animation.

Also your mention about St0rmCat's viewer tool helps a lot. At least I can abstract the video and watch myself. Previously I didn't know there exists such tools.

Here's a link to the video for the other in-game choice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HK1DqYj8xfw&t=1m40s

The in-game video runs from about 1:40 - 2:10.

Hi, thanks for the link of the other video. Now I've seen both. That completes my experiences of MM8.
This video makes me feel right to have chosen the dragons as aliens :-)

Yeah, that's been my usual default stance as well. The dragons have apparently been here for awhile, not really expanding and generally not bothering anyone outside their range. It is the dragon hunters that came in and started the war.
