I'm playing 1.6.2 version of this game and it seems that the reputation system is broken.

I am currently have -5 and it is neutral in green. Whenever I enter Erathia castle, the number changes to -10 or 0.

Number's so random I can't tell what is going on. Anyway with my current reputation, I entered the castle to see

the queen. As I opened the door, I was sent to jail and served 1 year. This is really weird cuz I didn't do

anything bad. No stealing or no killing civilians. Also I donate a lot to temples but that doesn't help a bit.

No matter how much I spend, there is no change in reputation. I remember I could raise the number by

donating in MM6.

So I assume the patch is bugged or there is something I missing.

How to raise reputation? Does spending 1 year in jail affect anything to my future game-play?

Reputation is almost non-existent in MM7. It's pretty much regional only so your reputation in Bracada can differ greatly with your reputation in Avlee for example. Your reputation will grow in an area of your finish quests for them, especially promotion quests. If you do promotion quests and your Dark-side though, your rep will lower in an area. Have you done the painting quest yet? That could explain castle Erathia's dislike towards you.

Also, jailtime doesn't effect your game unless you get thrown in jail so much that your characters start to get really old (when they reach age 50 and beyond their stats will drop). Plus, it will affect your ending score, but you shouldn't worry about that, especially not on a first playrhrough :)

I'm not sure I'm familiar with the patch you are talking about, the jittering rep seems weird, but may have another explanation :) Hope I could be of some help maybe.

I see. Thank you very much. So reputation depends on places I go. Still don't understand why there is different reputation in the castle town and inside of the castle. I just finished Catherine's first request so I can say it is pretty much early stage in the game. I will take my path of light. Sounds legit for my first play though. My characters are only 23-27 so I will just go jail for an year if 50 is where they lose abilities.
You're very welcome :)

Keep in mind that there are some enemies in the game that can unnaturally age your characters. Thread carefully when you're encountering undead creatures like the Barrow Wights. You will know when a character is unnaturally aged when their age is in green and different than it's maximum; 24/22 for example :) Don't worry too much about age btw, I've been unnaturally aged a lot in some of my playthroughs, combined with jailtime and I never really came close to the age 50 line!

As for the Erathia reputation I'm still not quite sure. I'm not sure what the policy is on rep gained/lost if you kill griffins outside of town, nor do I know for sure if your rep with Erathia would drop if you did some quests in the Tularean Forest for example. Either way, always check before you enter a throne-room, if you're in the green you needn't worry. Also, alsways check if you have any fines to pay in town halls, I believe you'll get thrown into jail wherever you may be if they are stocked too high, Never understood that really. Like I said the repulation system in MM7 is weird, useless and never beneficial like in MM6.

Anyway, most importantly you should have loads of fun playing :)

There's an ending score? ;)
eh yeah? :p
I thought that was just a random number they gave you as a joke!
