RakuPL: It works with gog.com version?

yes
The 1.9.3 version of the patch is now released.
Change Log
New in version 1.9.3:
[-] When you move between locations sound buffers were freed while the sounds are playing. Also some resources weren't freed.
[-] My bug: There was a crash in the load screen if Saves folder is empty.
New in version 1.9.1:
[-] Version 1.9 was hanging in Free Haven.
New in version 1.9:
[+] Now Delphi memory manager is used. The limit on amount of allocated memory is removed.
[+] Door state switching command extended. Now modders can pass 3 instead of 2 to switch door state even if it's moving.
[-] Now Starburst and Meteor Shower can't be used on monsters that are beyond the reach of arrows.
[-] Party generation screen animation speed is now limited.
[-] Fixed a couple of index-out-of-bounds errors.
Someone update the first post.
Any chance of finding out where to download the new patch? His official site only lists the 1.10 version.

What new patch???
Version naming convention means 1.10 is MORE recent than 1.7. It's one-point-ten, not one-point-one-zero. You don't clip the trailing zero. :)
Thanks for posting this incredible patch!
And Gog: Please release MM 7-9 - would be incredible to have all games of the series on Gog!
After installing unofficial patch 1.10 I get error while running MM6 that CD drive is missing CD2. I can use option Cancel or Continue to skip it, but why is it appearing anyway? It's kind of annoying :(
Edit:
To be honest I didn't check before installing 1.10, because playing without is not the same :)
Edit2:
Problem disappeared after I started PC and game next day :)

I have the latest patch and I can't get the music working.

This is what my ini file looked by default:

[Install]
PatchLods=1

Was it supposed to have more? I wanted to remap the keys but I think I'm going to re-install the game and play without the patch if I can't make the music work.

Edit: nevermind. The music works if I run the game as admin. Go figure.

Il0vethelion: Okay, so the mm6.ini file was never created after I installed the patch and ran the game. Any ideas?
It seems that the full ini file is often not created in Vista (and on rare occasions in W7) unless you run it as an administrator the first time. I've confirmed this several times installing MM7 and MM8 too.

If you're running the game under linux, be careful installing version 1.11. I'm running it on Fedora, with the LXDE desktop and jumping is broken, and movement has the same problems it's always had. I'm going back to version 1.10.

It's surprising how many people seem not to know that in Win7 you should run run *every single program you run* in Admin mode...;) It's part of the basic security of Win7. Some programs will run OK with reduced privileges, some will only seem to run OK and then crash later, and some won't run at all unless they are run in Admin mode.

Easiest way to do it is to right-click on the executable of every program you have, open the "compatibility tab" and at the bottom *check* the box that says "Run as Administrator" (or something like that), and then click "OK" to save the change. From then on, just double-clicking the file will run the program in Admin mode automatically.

If you don't want to do that, then right-click every program icon you are about to run and select "Run as Admin" to actually run the program in admin mode.

It's really *spooky* how many people don't know this simple yet very, very important fact about Win7. But that's why I wrote this post! Happy gaming!
Older software may at times require Administrative permissions but not always. Please stop posting horrible advice.

It's not just older--it's newer software, too. If you had a clue what running in Admin was for--you'd know that. But you don't, so you tell people that what you don't understand is "horrible advice." What makes it doubly idiotic is while many programs require Admin mode (certainly not just "older programs" at all)--uh, like the person who reported it here--I've never known a single instance of "Admin mode" hurting anyone, and I am absolutely certainly that you are the only person on the Internet to call it "horrible advice"...;) That's a definite first. My advice on this point is actually excellent.

Actually, it is horrible advice. Most programs don't require elevated privileges, they require write permission on the folder they are installed at. For older software it's acceptable since that was always the case (for example Dos programs), for any program developed from 2000 onwards it's shitty programming practices (there is a reason for the documents folder, use it).
So far, only programs I've seen that truly require admin privileges are programs that modify Operating System files, mess with memory, or need specific access to hardware. No game should have to be run in Admin mode, and any game that requires it is almost certainly a sign of a shitty programmer.
You would never expect a linux program to require SU privileges, why do you expect all Windows programs to require it?
