I play the game first time and really like the atmosphere. It's a pleasure to walk through this world, talk with NPC and exploring the environment.
But the number of enemies is some like a madness. There are crowds of them. I feel like I'm in the middle of zerg rush.
So maybe there are some mods to reduce the number of enemies?

Not aware of such a mod, but maybe some else does.

How far are you in the game? If you're still in the first area, I suggest you go to Castle Ironfist, buy bows, then come back here. Getting ranged attacked helps immensly.

Did you play other MM (not HoMM) games, or is this your first. In general, they all allow you to go anywhere from the beginning, even areas you'd normally visit end-game. So if an area is too difficult, just leave it for now and come back when you're stronger.
just play mm7 and 8 before getting into 6, 6 is quite the grindfest with the amount of enemies in most areas and 7 + 8 are lighter experiences to start off with.

Thank you for advice.
I played in M&M4 and that game didn't have such enemy crowds (at few first hours at least).

I don't like the whole idea with the castle management in M&M7. Also, so many fans appreciate M&M6 and scold late games. I afraid I can miss something if will play 7/8 and not play 6.

There really isn't anything to manage for your castle. You get a quest to kill all the monsters in it (the Cavalier quest has the same objective for a different location), and you get a quest to get it repaired (which involves doing a favor for someone else by adventuring in an entirely different dungeon). Most everything else castle related is incidental. There are a few quest notifications ("Go to X for a quest") and a quest items that can be found in it at various points, but it is only a special dungeon in that you'll return to it a few times throughout the game.

Anyway. All three are good games (8 is mostly decried in comparison to 6 and 7). You'll miss some series related lore if you don't play 6, but the three games are entirely independent and self contained.

Ok, thank you, all three are in my library. I will try 7.

high rated
The attack button and spells reduces the number of enemies.

I feel like MM6 can be easier since you can get bows for all of your party right away, so here's a quick tip for MM7 - try killing the flying enemies outside of the town after you've leveled up, or just aggro only a few of them, otherwise it'll be worse than MM6 with the mages outside of the city, since they will swarm you and kill the NPCs in the city if they follow you.
To explore MM6 with relative impunity, if that interests you more than the fighting, start by using the secret spell scroll to reach the secret teleport to Shrine of the Gods for a big stat boost followed by a visit to the NWC office for money, potions and stuff. There are plenty of write-ups and videos about explaining or showing how. Including the "MM6 Starting Tips" topic posted here by "incognito111".

mm6 has tons of enemies. It is a dream for people who enjoy swarms and exploiting mechanics.

mm7, on the other hand, has a more streamlined gameplay and is harder to exploit (for example you must choose light or dark magic, and the hordes are fewer; the world map has more per square "inch" as well and dungeons are still a good size but not huge).

mm7 does have some rules changes, but plays similarly from a fundamental sense. So, perhaps you should try that game first!

Regardless of which one you do, though, be sure to equip bows early on everyone, and learn the Bow skill.

Just use the Pedestal at the top of the hill that casts Day of the Gods on you. As long as you pull just some of the dragonflies at a time, then they are very manageable with the stat boost. You can also find enough bows on the island to equip your entire party.

This is very true.

In M&M VI, Bows are about the same as Flame Arrow and Magic Arrow which means they are hit or miss (usually miss). The only difference is you don't run out of arrows and you do run out of Blue Goo. The Bows are useful until Level 20, then (unless you have a reaaaaaly good bow), they pretty much suck. Concentrate on Magic in the game. You can play brawn and win, but the game favors magic. And one fireball will do more damage then four normal bows. (If you have a Cleric, Harm is a useful early spell and never misses. And Sparks does damage you wish a bow could do.)

Yeah, that's why I mentioned aggroing only a few of them. I haven't played it for years, but back when I played it, it was easier to first level up before tackling them on, since I didn't have Bows on everyone (I think I had only 1 party member with a bow, as I wanted to save money and gave new spells to everyone and planned on picking up the skill on the island). :)
Did Day of the Gods work in the vanilla (no Greyface patches) version btw?

Oh definitely. There is a noticeable difference, even at level 1 and fighting the dragon flies, between using Day of the Gods and not using it. I think Haste was the broken spell.

And the Skill Points you get after the Day of the Gods. There are two very easy and early maps in MM7. The starter Island and the Fountain and Globes in Erathia. Those maps give you a jump start in MM7 that you don't get in MM6.
