Some people on this forum have managed to find a way to get Dosbox to work with a CD image for the sound files.
GOG people, if you still wanna offer the best version of MM4-5 (cd version), look at this thread, many people are detailing how to make it work.

I've gotten WoX working with the original cd bins but for some reason, the game keeps crashing when exiting conversations.

SOLUTION: It was the IRQ setting in the conf file. It was set to 5. With 7 there are no crashes.

I managed to get the CD version working with little difficultly. I used something called PowerISO to rip my CDs, then followed the directions on dosbox's wiki to mount the CUE/BIN files. Switching CDs requires pressing Ctrl+F4, and there is no indication from DOSBox that anything actually occurred, but it seems to be working. With the rip it is way more responsive than in the original game where you had to wait for the CD-Audio to load.

Installed the game is 1.27 GB and when compressed into a 7z file it is 444MB, so really no reason GoG shouldn't make an effort to change World of Xeen to the CD version. Except I only tested it a little, I haven't played the whole game, maybe they tried the CD version but upon testing there were serious issues.
Having heard some of the voice acting on YouTube, I think it's safe to say you won't miss much by using the Trilogy CD version or the GOG version...

Objectively, you may be right. But I grew up with that version. The cheesy voice-acting is a big part of the nostalgia.

OH WOW! This is so awesome! Thank you SO much, Mr. Iscariot! This addition definitely wins some serious loyalty points from me. Along with the great job you did on "Uplink", you and anyone else who worked on adding this deserve some sort of award - a GOG staffer of the year award, perhaps? You'd get my vote.
There was a utility included with the talkie version that converted SAV to WOX files...

Oh, and here it is: http://games.playazlounge.net/xeen/sav2wox.exe
Could someone provide SHA-1 , MD5 and CRC32 hashes ? I have problem while downloading new installer :/
