Okay with help from this forum I was able to dismiss Diamond Gargoyles. Next question. Best way to defeat Oozes? Thank you
Pretty much like the Diamond Gargoyles. Elemental Magic with the most effective the opposite of the Oozes Nature. (eg Fire against the Arctic Ooze.)
I've never been in a situation where killing oozes was really necessary, you can run past them pretty easily, except maybe in dragoon's caverns, but since there's nothing really down there I don't even bother with that part of the dungeon. But as the poster above said, elemental damage and elemental damage enchanted weapons do the trick.
I wouldn't recommend close combat since they can break your stuff. Just stock up on blue potions and fireball them away. Also save all wands for this dungeon.

Fireballs on oozes? No way! Sparks, sparks, and more sparks. Especially if they're downhill from you in a tunnel every spark will hit an ooze. Sparks is even a great spell at super high level if you're at point blank range, since its super mana efficient. Similar high damage efficiency spells include the other multiple shot spells, like fire blast and shrapmetal. Just be toe to toe for it to work!

Also weapons with elemental damage bonuses _can_ hurt oozes. It won't show a damage number but you'll see a little explosion on the ooze. This is slow though.

Ooze is immune to poison, magic and Physic

Best way is to use Electricity, Cold and Fire

There is no such thing as an Arctic Ooze. They're called Acidic Ooze. All Oozes are immune to physical, poison, and magic damage but have 0 resistance against fire, electricity, and cold. So any of those three elements works just as well on any of them. Like other posters, I recommend Sparks as the most efficient way to deal with them.

You're right of course. When I first played I associated blue with a "cold" attack and called them Artic ooze. Never got off the habit.
I noticed somebody mentioned Shrapmetal in this thread. It may be a good spell, but if it's like its World of Xeen counterpart, it has the physical element, and according to another poster, oozes are immune to physical damage. If this is correct, Shrapmetal won't help against oozes (though the other spells mentioned are likely still useful here).

Am I correct?

Yes. I don't believe the other poster meant that shrapmetal would be useful against oozes (he just mentioned it as similar to sparks in that it's a shotgun like spell). One might have trouble hitting oozes with shrapmetal even if they weren't immune because they're so low to the ground.

Edit: in MM7 and 8, Shrapmetal deals dark damage which oozes are not immune to in MM7 (there are no oozes in 8).

I know this has been said already but I always fireball when a group is far away and use sparks when they are close. I also use magic wands on my non-combat magic heroes or at least I do early game. I find later they are pretty easy to deal with
Shrapmetal in MM6 deals physical damage. Don't use it against Oozes.
