The line needs to go in your config file after changing to your mounted drive and before launching the game like this:
mount C E:Games\
C:

mixer master 20:20

cd titan
titan.exe

Only tested this on dosbox .74
This mix master command did nothing for Might and Magic World of Xeen for me.. Trying to record play with commentary, I have to scream to be heard over the music. If I turn the mic up any more it just clips out from over-volume.

I'm playing the GOG install of the game, using whatever DOSBox version it installs.

Torchjockey: So, for example, I could turn down the volume in Might and Magic 2, while also playing music on my PC.
just add the following at the end of your conf-file (10% volume in this case):

[autoexec]
MIXER MASTER 10
MIXER SPKR 10
MIXER SB 10
MIXER FM 10

If your running win 10, start MM2, press windows key. In the search bar type "mixer". There you will find App volume and device preferences. Find your dosbox app, and use slider to lower. :-) Nothing to screw up this way,.
