I have bought the game on GOG here and have it fully updated but I can't get it to run. My computer goes to a blank white screen with mouse turning around in circles but it will not run.

This is the error message I receive when I try to run this game:

Direct Draw Error

DDERR_Unsupported in file
F:\MM8src\MM8\Code\ screen 16.cpp at line number: 2542

I used to play this game all the time when I had a Windows 98 computer, it was one of my favorite games as a kid, and I am really hoping this game will work. It was one of my favorite fantasy games of all time, that and HOMM2 and HOMM3.

Althought not the same line number, a similar error returned this for 7.

Since it's the same engine, did you try this.

It seems like the filing is different. I can't seem to find MM8 in the registry editor.

It doesn't look like New World Computing is located under Software. I can't find it.

Can you do a search in registry. 32-bit programs are in a different place. Under Wow6432Node or something.

Did you try running the setup program and changing graphics options there.

According to link posted, I am supposed to find "2dacceloff" but it doesn't look like it is there and it doesn't look there is a graphic card option that can be changed in the registry editor.

What about the config program.

In the game folder there should be one, forgot what it's called. Can you try toggling hardware acceleration there?
