Not sure if this is addressed anywhere but I had a problem with my cursor arrow blinking and disappearing in character status screen on the top 20% of the screen.
On my PC I solved the problem by increased the cycles to 30000. So far it seems to run ok with this setting and cursor problems are gone.

This can be changed by holding CTRL then F12 to increase cycles or CNTRL F11 to decrease cycles, which are displayed on the top of the windowed version of the game.

For others who might have this problem: If you find a cycles setting that works well for the game, and you don't want to have to manually set it every time by using CTRL + F12 and CTRL + F11, you can edit the game's configuration file to start with a specific cycle setting.

The file is in the game's install director and is called something like "dosboxmm4-5.conf". I forget the exact title, the important part is the .conf extension. This file tells DOSBox what to do when starting the game. Open it with a text editor like Notepad or Wordpad and look for the line that reads "cycles=max". Change this to "cycles=30000" or whatever number you've settled on. Then save the file. Now every time you launch the game it will be running with cycles at 30000. Note that you can still change the setting in-game with CTRL + F12 and CTRL + F11.
