Does anyone know where better map and manual scans for these games can be found?

The map for MM2 is mostly unreadable. The names on the MM6 map aren't very clear. MM1 is OK for the most part and 3, 4,and 5 are pretty good. Something higher resolution, though, would make them nicer looking and easier to look at. I own a physical copy of MM6 and scanned in the map to make a 4600 x 4600 image, so that one's not an issue.

The manuals for MM1 and 2 are just text. No illustrations/photos. MM3-6 are actual scans.

Long ago, ChaunceyK found me a better MM2 map scan here:

Original thread (hard to find due to the rather poor forum search function):
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/might_and_magic_series/better_mm2_world_map

I think there are also many other threads asking about better MM6 maps, but I haven't been reading those, so I don't know if a better one's been found.

Are you sure this is not how they were originally? Replacementdocs has the same ones that GOG does, i.e. plain text with no illustrations. But I've never seen an original boxed copy so I don't know what the physical manuals were like.

I have original manuals for both MM1 and MM2. I honestly don't remember if they have illustrations inside of them. I'll check later tonight when I'm home and report back.

Thanks for the link to the MM2 map. That is much better.
I have the MM6 map scanned. If I can find the thread you mention, I'll put it up somewhere and link to it there.

I did find a text file of the MM1 manual where someone tried to make ASCII art of the illustrations. The manuals on GOG look like they were taken from replacementdocs.

Thanks. Not meaning to cause a hassle or anything. Just was curious.

I got out my old MM1 and MM2 manuals. I've probably had these for over 20 years. My MM1 manual is just a photocopy. I'm not sure what happened to the original. I actually have two original MM2 manuals... not sure how that happened. :^D

Anyway, they both have some very charming illustrations in them. It's a shame that no one online seems to have them.

I don't have a fancy scanner, and I haven't done much scanning before, but I'm going to mess around with it and see if I can't come up with some nice scans to upload.

Cool. Thanks. It'd be fun to see them whenever you get the chance to do them..
If you want a map for MM6, then
http://www.the-spoiler.com/RPG/New.World.Computing/might.and.magic6.3/mm6.htm
offers a very accurate one. It also contains a walkthrough (if you want one), and a lot of tips concerning things like skills, monster stats, etc.

EDIT: Oh, nvm, you already have the map for MM6. Well, the walkthrough and other info might still be useful. :-)

Thanks for the link to the site. I think I found this one when I started playing MM6 a few years back. I'm going to restart it after I play through 1-5 first...

I posted a link to a scan of my MM6 map in this thread:

I have created scans of my physical manuals. As noted above, the MM1 manual I have is an imperfect photocopy. On top of that the scan copy is itself imperfect. Still, it's better than nothing.

Might & Magic 1-2 Manuals & Maps

Note to GOG employees: While these scans aren't perfect, you're certainly welcome to include them in future downloads if you'd like.

These are great. Many thanks for taking the time to scan them in and post them.

Thanks also to Waltorious and ChaunceyK for the MM2 map (back in this post. )

I'm going to mark gammaleak's post as the solution. The forum really needs a way to mark multiple posts as solutions. That would be most helpful for multi-part questions.

Now if there was a better MM1 map scan some place...

I want to thank you too for the maps. Great job.
Mediafire deleted the links that I originally posted. Back at the "Solution" post (#9) I have updated the links to a place that I hope will be a little more permanent.
These maps and manuals are awesome - many thanks!

Thanks for keeping the links updated.
Links are dead again. Could somebody re-upload these files?
