Hi Everyone, I'm sorry we haven't been in the GOG community very much, but I just wanted to let everyone know that we've been beta-testing a performance update, and we should have it available soon. We'll make it available to GOG the moment it is ready. The update will improve performance substantially, and also fixes many minor bugs. Our tests show 5-50% increases in FPS, though some testers have reported even higher. Also, there is a memory fix that will improve a stuttering issue that many have reported. We've also made an improvement to the texture rendering on the terrain, so it'll look much sharper and will not look low-res up close as it does now on some video cards. Finally, there will be a fix related to the FOV. On some wide displays and multi-monitor setups.

I hate to promise anything specific, but things are looking good for a release within the next several days. I'll keep you guys posted here.

Great news. A couple of questions:
1. Will the update affect save files? Are we forced to start a new game or is the patch save-friendly?
2. More than the stuttering, I dislike how every time I pick up a flower or a mushroom I've already researched, the game "forgets" the effect said ingredient has, and in the Research tab it will only display basic information about that ingredient, whereas before picking it up it also displays the research results too. Now I have to research everything again every time I want to pick up another plant of the same type (for example, for medicine creation purposes). (Example: I pick up a violet cactus -> I research it in the lab in order to see what it does when mixing potions -> I go pick up another violet cactus in the wild -> Now the previous research has no effect and it only says "I picked up a violet cactus" or something like that and shows only the basic properties of the plant, instead of "I researched violet cactus" and showing the effect in the mixture too. Is this fixed in the update?

Hope hearing from you. I just started playing this game today, and played about 10 hours straight with the bare minimum of breaks. Love this game.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed too. I guess I assumed thet "hotspot" fixes were going to be part of the update.

This will be fixed in the update, as will a lot of other little bugs.

@charbon and jefequeso - There are a few tweaks to the creature AI. The 'hotspots' have been toned down a bit too.

Ahh, awesome. I'll probably check it out when it's released, although I've finished the game. I wouldn't mind revisiting Eden :3
Looking forward to it.

Edit: And thanks for the update.
