Is there any way to survive the torture? I am playing on the keyboard and I can't make it no matter how fast I press/rub the Action button. Maybe there is some patch to pass that scene and still have Meryl alive? Or any cheats to restore health faster?

You can survive the torture, it's just a real pain to actually win it legitimately if you're not a particularly good button-masher. The most efficient means would be to somehow enable a turbo button for inputting the action button.

Despite being an old game, just in case is your first playthrough, keep the save game if you don't want to play the whole game again.

There are 2 different endings depending on surviving or giving up.
thank you, friends! I have found a way to win without pain in the finger. Used Spacebar as the Action key, tapped in a very fast pattern "index finger - middle finger - index finger - middle finger". Was able to survive the torture on the first try.

In fact, it's one of my favorite games since childhood. But today is the first time I endured the Ocelot interrogation.

I recently got through it today by mapping the action button to my D-pad. I noticed the little clicks on the d-pad spring back faster than the full presses on the face buttons, so I figured that would give me a faster rate. Got through both torture sequences on a single try.
Well, since this is on PC, it should be easier than ever. Just download an autoclicker and set it up so upon pressing a certain key it starts spamming the action button at certain interval(say once every millisecond). Same goes for Solidus choke hold in MGS2.

I also just learned that the PC version is also inherently easier. In the OG PSX version, both torture sessions were 3 rounds on easy mode and increased with the difficulty (Normal mode had 4 rounds). I noticed this change and looked it up. Here, it's 3 rounds on every difficulty.

That's also the case with MGS2. The torture lasts like 15-30 secs shorter if I recall correctly.

On European Extreme it lasts like a minute or so.

I still had to use turbo for my controller in order to survive on EE difficulty. Would be better to not have this dumb event in both MGS1 and MGS2.
