I've heard of V's fix, but it seems to only support the Xbox and PS controllers, as well as the Steam controller.

Is there a way to use a Nintendo Switch Pro ocontroller or Wii U Pro controller and remap the game accordingly?

You can try to add them as Non-Steam games to Steam and use a Switch Pro Controller. I haven't done it myself, but it's worth a shot.
