I'm encountering an issue in MGS1 where during Grey Fox's speech between the two phases of the REX fight, the game will crash. I have video evidence on Twitch but I'm not allowed to post links.

I've done a bunch of tests and spoken to other members of the MGSR community, and we believe it only occurs on this version, as no-one's encountered it on the CD version or Oxide version (that I know of at least).

I do use bmn's Metal Gear Solid Integral Launcher to manually assign my CPU cores, as without doing so, the game crashes whilst skipping multiple cutscenes. I've also tested the following which seems to make no difference:

- GOG settings make no difference as far as I can tell, as I've now matched my settings to others who haven't crashed
- Fullscreen/windowed makes no difference, managed to crash on both
- Having the Livesplit Autosplitter running doesn't make a difference, crashed with it on and off.
- Tested running the game on all cores. I have an i7 so I usually run on cores 0-1. Running on all 12 cores didn't cause a crash during the speech and also didn't cause crashes at multi-cut-scene skips (Wolf 2, Raven, Liquid, Score all tested). I need to test this during a full run, in case there's something earlier in the run triggering it to happen later.
- Have had crashes doing nothing, crashes spamming Square and switching weapons
- Run in Software mode, haven't yet experienced on Hardware rendering as speedrunners play in Software due to faster loads.

Seems random, but there must be something causing it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Bumping this thread to provide some additional information related to this issue.

Looking through the crash dumps for mgsi.exe after the crash occurs, it appears to be an issue with accessing a memory address during the FMV for Fox's speech. Here's the exception being thrown each time:

`The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access. Unhandled exception at 0x662C6F3B (D3DImm.dll) in mgsi.exe.10924.dmp: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000`

The dump file itself is too large to attach here but if there is another way I can share it, please let me know.
