Specifically only caring for 2, i played way back, but it had control issues [aiming being terrible, the sword just not working half the time] and performance issues, and visual, it was a pest. So i was wondering since they now come up i was wondering if, anything is, changed so its worth it.

MGS2 is the same code released from 2003 on the PC originally except now GOG has made certain changes like obviously working on Windows 10 and improving 16:9 and DirectX with a wrapper. Controller support is abysmal and prefers Direct Input controllers rather than the modern Xinput ones. If you want to play it without these annoyances you'll need to look up the "MGS2 V's Fix" which is a fan patch that gives real Xinput support for both Xbox 360/One and PS4 controllers. It also introduces a lot better video settings and higher rendering resolutions and features. Make sure to follow the wiki on Github to install it correctly.

If you don't mind holding off there may be a fix for these issues by GOG themselves as they seem to be very much aware of peoples frustrations so fingers crossed they are going to patch these soon to make them feel a lot better out of the box.

Overall the game itself is great as its very close to the PS2 version now but don't expect it to be on the level of Bluepoints HD Collection remaster port the PS3 and Xbox 360 got.

Because this now works on Windows 10 natively maybe more fans could make mods and more patches in the future as this port has gotten a revival.

The last time I played this was on Playstation 2 and I have to say this version is noticeably better with V's fix, like explained above. I really love it actually. Yes, it's an old game and graphics are far from modern games but hey, a potato can run this game and it's an absolute delight to play this on my laptop even with the mod applied. It would be great in case GOG just included this fix in the game itself but also understand that they might have to get permission from its original author to get it and who knows how active he is. Also, the launcher does use fan art, so that might be another obstacle. The game does work fine without any mods in case you're willing to stick to keyboard and mouse.
Using V's fix the only problem I'm having is the dark cutscene issue, otherwise it's smooth as butter. MGS1 is working fine for me unmodified. Metal Gear has the same choppy gameplay the ps2 port had, otherwise it's serviceable once you change the default controls.

Mgs 1 has a weird black bar going across the bottom . Hoping it gets fixed soon.
