EVERY single issue I came across in the game without any patches using the 1.0 Version from GOG.

POST ANY BUGS YOU COME ACROSS, GOG TEAM IS MONITORING POSTS.

Hardware used for this test.

Windows 10
4k monitor
2080ti
9900ks
32gb ram
Creative SoundBlaster AE9

All settings of the game are maxed out same with Nvidia Driver panel with sharpening on default.
Vsync on. No issues with any resolution. if you go past 4:3 you will experience stretching and its ugly
Every resolution runs perfect without issues for the game.

ALL ISSUES AND GLITCHES IN THE GAME

0.No Subtitles on cutscenes.

1. Water in intro area has no effect for movement, you run as though not in water.

2. Game will repeat/crash at cells when you meet decoy octopus. Crash occurs when you skip his scenes and will crash at snake saying 'Ok lets get you out of here. Not skipping these scenes will prevent this

3. if you don't pick up SOCOM Pistol in truck, cutscene flashing occurs when you are at gunpoint by Meryl in soldier uniform after octopus's death.

4.Odd cut effects on sky textures throughout the game from the tank battle to helicopter battle.

5.Stealth effects are a bit glitched, it's not that bad but you can noticed from time to time the stealth mode effect breaking in cutscenes.

6.Some cutscenes with ninja have some odd lag to them but not major game breaking. Fixable with software option in options menu. Resolution takes a hit.

7. Staircase chase to rooftop, gun spazzes out and aims up when shooting at enemies going up stairs or down, Sound of shooting and all other sounds get lower in volume, sounds like in game audio drops to 50 or 40 when this even happens, when you reach top to climb ladder to get to roof the sounds go back to normal.

8. Audio crackling in Vulcan raven freezer room scene when you are about to fight him, when he says "lets see if those words have iron in them' has a short audio crackle.

9.Audio Crackling at random points in cutscene when you reach command room in REXES LAIR, liquid and ocelot are talking and shoot the card from your hand. that whole entire cutscene has some random audio crackling.

10.Ninja VS Rex Scenes, Ninja wall smash half blood missing on wall. Ninja crush scene, half blood missing on floor before crushed to death.

11. Car chase fight. Liquids face is glitched and missing around 50% of his face through whole car chase.

12. Stealth in cutscenes are a bit choppy and as well in gameplay when used.

METAL GEAR SOLID VR MISSIONS GAME

When playing the ninja, stealth makes the game a bit choppy in the framerate department.

DreamedArtist: I'm currently doing a speed run of the game and gonna post EVERY single issue I come across without any patches using the 1.0 Version.

Hardware used.

4k monitor to test how far the resolutions go and see if there is any issue with stretching or incompatibility.

so far no issues with any resolution. if you go past 4:3 you will experience stretching and its ugly

MANTIS FIGHT DOES NOT NEED CONTROLLER SWAP EVEN WITH CONTROLLER PLUGGED IN
The game ignores this and pretends you are always in slot 2 and even after match no notification for plugging it into port 1 is present. So don't worry about that. Unfortunately a big majority of Mantises cutscenes are gone due to this...
was always an issue or just part of the PC port.

Glitches and issues so far.

1. Water in intro area has no effect for movement, you run as though not in water.
2. Game will repeat/crash at cells when you meet decoy octopus. Crash occurs when you skip his scenes and will crash at snake saying 'Ok lets get you out of here. Not skipping these scenes will prevent this
3. if you don't pick up SOCOM Pistol in truck, cutscene flashing occurs when you are at gunpoint by maryl in soldier uniform after octopus's death.

About to fight the Helicopter, so far up to this point the above mentioned is the only issues I seen with the game so far.

more updates will come. Thanks.
Have you noticed the immense lag the "Ninja effects" cause, which are only "fixed" by enabling Software Rendering from the Advanced graphics options, thereby limiting your resolution to a really low one? I believe it was 640x480. That's my main gripe with this version, and the lack of full controller support with vibration and everything, to bring back those Mantis scenes as well.

Was adding all this to my list. I don't count controller cause I don't have one to test with. I do have a PS Classic controller though that I will test after i'm done the game to see if I have issues with.

This game never had vibration and controller support was very limited back then when ps1 was still about. mantis scenes had this problem back then with original, a lot of them was cut out due to PS1 integration, it sucks but hey what can you do :(

Stay tuned for disk 2 reports. Gonna have it done by tonight at hopefully 12 at night or 1 in the morning Eastern time.

If you do come across anything please let me know so I can add to the list.

But major bug is scene with decoy octopus if you skip them the game freezes and repeats the scene over and over again

Please let me know if you have this problem if you skip all the scenes in the prison cell meetup. Thanks. I wonder if its just me.

Sure, I can test tomorrow. I do hope they at least patch the Ninja effects issue. It's such a shame.
The thing about the mantis puzzle is that I have read so much about it that I don't really feel like wanting to play something that I know the solution. This is as frustrating as trying to watch some classic movies like Psycho unspoiled. So, really, what do I personally miss.

That was one cent. My other cent is that vibration worked on MGS2 windows version, at least on the Logitech Wingman gamepad I had. It was one of the few things that actually worked actually. Guess they did not put the effort on the first one?
(nevermind)

Got the crashing/repeating the same line issue upon trying to skip Psycho Mantis' death cutscene. It seems like it happens during certain cutscenes, but no one can be certain as to how many of them there are.

So far the only problem I've had was the missing water physics. Outside of that, I didn't have any issues with the Decoy Octopus scene; however, I'm currently only at the point where you leave the Armory for the first time after fighting Ocelot. The only new issue I have to report is that whenever I get a game over, the game crashes. I've been playing in Software mode.

Another issue I've been having today:

The D-pad on my PS4 controller isn't being recognized at all. I "fixed" the issue by mapping it to the left analog stick directions on DS4 Windows... until the controller stopped getting recognized altogether since a couple hours ago, after I updated DS4 Windows.

Isn't there some way to just play using a controller without relying on 3rd party applications? Kinda like how things work on Steam? I can play using Dinput via DS4 Windows, but that's not really a solution. @DreamedArtist, can you add this to the issues we're having too?

Anybody found a fix to this? I can't complete the chase sequence because of this and it's driving me nuts.

tfishell: Thanks. Maybe send this to Konami Support?
better not, we are responsible for the technical part, not Konami ;)
I'm monitoring this thread and we'll see what can and cannot be addressed next week
I finished playing a freeware version of MGS 1 a few days ago (i have now bought it legit now that it's availaible) and one HUGE issue i encountered was an elevator not working after you have used it once. So you have to defeat a boss with what you have got with no opportunity to resupply.

This guy had the same problem ( i can't post any links, sadly, but google MG Solid (PC) - What happens to the elevator? in youtube)

So i am curious whether the same problem is in the legit copy. I am going to be playing MGS 2 now but if you are playing MGS 1 please fill me in whether you also have that issue with the elevator.

This elevator is right before the snowfield when you battle the second last boss who isn't Liquid (trying my best not to spoil anything to new players)

While software rendering does fix these effects, it's also worth noting that the game crashes on Game Over when using software rendering with GOG's wrapper. DgVoodoo supposedly fixes this (who knows whether it breaks anything else in the process, though).

If you guys can fix the main issues which are the crashes upon skipping certain cutscenes, the controller functionality issues, and the Ninja Effect/Water Effect lag issues on Hardware Rendering mode, it'd be a great start! Thanks for keeping an eye on this.

Speaking of which, here's a few more:

- Framebuffer-based effects such as water distortion and especially Stealth Camouflage massively decrease performance whenever they are on-screen
- Subtitles (called "captions" in-game) are missing whenever there is a pre-rendered, real life footage FMV playing
- FMVs are not scaled to full-screen when using higher resolutions in Hardware Renderer mode
- Because XInput gamepad d-pads are detected as POV switches in DirectInput mode, it is not possible to move diagonally in the game when mapping movement to the d-pad directions (as the game interprets a diagonal press as a unique POV position with different degrees of rotation, instead of a simultaneous press of the two adjacent POV positions). This issue would not be present if the d-pad was detected as 4 buttons instead, and the only workaround is to use external software to map the d-pad to the keyboard keys.
