I know gamespy got closed down and that was how men of war: assault squad implemented their multiplayer.

Does the game still require a serial number for multiplayer? and if so what service are they using because as far as I understood it only LAN MP was supported but could be done non-locally via gameranger.

I don't play the multiplayer, so unfortunately this will be pretty limited in its assistance, but when I went to the multiplayer option it allowed me to choose internet after which point it asked me to create a password and login id for Gamespy that would be tied to the CD key. I went no further because I don't use the multiplayer. Hope that helped.
