I should have been more suspicious of this game. Unless you have a great computer, with a great video card, with lots of RAM, it will not run for you.

I have an HP that I bought in November. I boosted the RAM to 16 GB, but I am using the video card that came with it.

Kingdom Come Deliverance works well on my system, unless the number of entities on the screen overload it, and it works better that most of the PCs of my friends.

So, I figured I would take the chance.

Bad move on my part. I get a frame rate of frozen molases. I would guess it to be about 5fps at best, and more like 1 frame every 5 seconds.

I have everything optimized for speed rather than looks. I am used to simple graphics because I have spent years playing generic Minecraft. So, I have no complaints about the dumbed down graphics, but it still will not run better than 5fps.

I'm curious as to what your card is. My old rig that I played this on had a 1050 (non ti laptop gimped version) and with the settings set to medium/low I was able to get it running reasonably well without making my eyeballs bleed. Currently I use a 3060 (once again a gimped laptop version) and have everything set to ultra and it runs without noticeable frame drops.

I mention this only because both cards are low-end for their eras and between the two I was able to go from running the game adequately on the 1050, to very well on the 3060, so I'd expect an average gaming pc from last november would be adequate (unless it has a very old card in it). My suggestion would be to try fiddling with the settings a bit more, especially lowering the texture quality. Oh and use 1080p. Playing this game at 4k would require a lot more graphical grunt.

Quick question - are you running Windows 11? The game ran perfectly on my 3 year old laptop under Windows 10. Windows 11 update arrived and I had the same problem as you, horrible frame rates and loading times measured in minutes rather than seconds.
It was Windows defender that was causing the problem. Made an exception rule so it doesn't scan the game directory or the save directory on the fly, and the game instantly went back to it's previous performance.

Worth a try, anyway - it is a very good game.

You have an HP? As if HP means anything?
If you wanted to make a statement worth reading, then you should list your CPU/GPU and other relevant information. The fact that you bought an "HP" and had to "boost" the ram to 16gb means you probably have some low tier budget computer with a low tier GPU.

That said, I highly doubt KCD 'works well' for you. You probably get 20 fps but you think 20 fps is good.
