I'm using the GOG Downloader (GD) to retrieve the installer for Pacific Assault (because I haven't been able to find a way to download with GOG Galaxy without also installing).

If I click on the GD link for the installer, my browser passes this to GD, and the installer appears in the GD window. However, this item turns green almost immediately, and GD tells me that the file has been downloaded. When I check the download folder I find that the installer files are not present.

I have no problems with downloading the goodies for this title, and I seem to have no problems downloading the installer for Crysis.

same problem for me using the gog downloader, it says "completed" but the folder is empty.
Add me to the list too, GOG Downloader progress bar just jumps to completed status immediately! Don't think I have a 10 Gbps residential connection just yet!
Use manual downloading from the website to get the installer files.
GOG Downloader is definitely not working.

If you use the GOG Galaxy client, there should be an option to download a backup copy of the game, which downloads the installer rather than the installed game files. Can't remember where the button is off hand as I don't us Galaxy that much, but it is there.

Alternatively, can you download from the website direct links, i.e. without using either GOG Galaxy or the GOG Downloader?
I use GOG Downloader as it's still supported and works just fine for the vast majority of my games so will wait for the issue to be fixed, have also reported the issue to GOG.

The GOG Downloader isn't truly supported any longer as there is no more development taking place on it. Below is taken from GOG's general issues that can be found on some of the game support pages. (e.g. https://www.gog.com/support/m_a_x_m_a_x_2/igeneral_problems_with_the_gog_downloaderi).

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT THE GOG.COM DOWNLOADER

The Downloader is no longer being developed by us and, while it remains a fully functional application, we cannot guarantee that it will remain this way indefinitely, for instance if we update our infrastructure in a way that is incompatible with the old application.

We strongly suggest using our new GOG Galaxy application, which offers all the benefits of the Downloader (including downloading classic installer files, with error-protection) and adds more convenience and new functionalities. Click here to find out more.

If you wish to continue using the Downloader, you should find your game in your Library, and select MORE -> GOG DOWNLOADER LINKS. You will be able to start your download there.
No thanks, Galaxy is optional, which means the downloader and web links are still valid download options!

Yes, they are still valid, I never said they weren't. Personally, I use the web links, though I have tried using the Galaxy client to download installers (rather than the installed game files themselves as they aren't being compressed yet and delta patching is still work in progress) and it did work okay, though at the time it reported the incorrect download sizes, which I reported and which I believe got fixed at some point.

However, if there are any bugs with the GOG Downloader then don't expect them to get fixed as GOG have ceased development on it.
I'm aware that the downloader is EOL but while it still functions i'll use it, it downloads games/bonus stuff in one go, the web links do not!

I have well over 400 games in my account and everyone has been downloaded with the downloader. Only two games have failed to download so far, one was Eradicator but was fixed, and the other is the one people are currently having issues with in this thread!

When the day comes that Galaxy is mandatory then i'll be waving bye bye to GOG! The fact they changed their name from Good Old Games to just GOG.com 4 years ago indicated they are just going to be another 'store' selling any old trash, you only have to look at the Indie trash that's swelled their game count and the so called 'movie' garbage!
Kinda annoyed that the downloader for this does not work. Worked just fine with Crysis and Warhead, now I cannot download this game the same way. I use the downloader because I do not want to use Galaxy and I probably never will and the browser downloads always have something go wrong on the multi parted downloads.
