I downloaded it but haven't been able to get a remote control to work. I tried my wired xbox 360 controler and an xbox one remote. Excuse my ignorance since i am new to computer games and usually use a console.

Sorry but this game doesn't have controller support as you can see from the store page. Usually old games from before 2005 don't have controller support...
But if you want to be sure 100% always check the store page and check https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/
