I've owned it on Epic almost since release, and they did a 14gb update the other day. Besides (aparantly) breaking my mods (which added some of these things), they've seemed to add new maps, weather (YEAH!), whole new menu graphics (was static images before), and enhanced the AI. I just wished the updated the Mech POV UI. I hate the stock one.

I'm kind of impressed. It feels like a new game now.

If you're a Mechwarrior player of old (1 or 2), the digital extras pack ($5) has a PDF of a Mech tech manual you used to get with the old games. 57 pages of Mech spec goodness.
As a big fan, I find it borderline unplayable with the HUD layout, in particular the map at the top left rather than center bottom, and the speed & heat indicators basically invisible to your peripheral vision. I have barely any feedback to the state of my Mech. I need to see the arrow on the map, not just a bar below my crosshairs, and have all of that info visible in peripheral view without having to check it constantly with deliberate glances... and the mods that do that... are incompatible with this version.

Modders that made these mods... don't intend to update them.
I don't even know where to go to look for mods that are compatible, either.

If you check out the discord for the game, there is talk with modders on how there is currently an issue preventing most mods from working even if they are updated for this version. The developers are working as hard as possible to get a hotfix patch out. Once that is done, I'm guessing there will be a lot more mod support. As for a place to go to get mods, Nexus would probably be the best bet if you have the game through GOG. I don't know how well it shows mod support for various versions, I think that is left up to the mod author and/or user to figure out currently.

And that's the problem. All mods listed there are for the old versions, and you can't filter by game version. Add to that that the existing mods will not be updated because according to a mod author, they physically cannot be, they have to be re-done from scratch due to all the changes this version of the game has... and you'll be stuck with duplicate entries / mod names, one of which is outdated, one of which works, and that's best outcome.

We need to either
1) Be able to filter by game version
2) Have Nexus classify the new release as a different game
3) Have every mod author use a unified, coordinated marker in mod name to differentiate for us.

Or we will have
4), a frustratingly difficult experience even finding mods that work for this particular version, while being teased by mods that are exactly what we want, but are inherently incompatible.

All I wanted is to have the MWO and classic layout with the map at the bottom so I can actually be constantly, passively aware of which direction my mech is aligned to, rather than being forced to actively check over and over and over...

I've found that if I look by descending date it seems to work okay knowing that any mod that came out before May 27th is impossible for the new version. I've also noticed that mod authors (at least for the ones I've checked) indicate in their file area if they have a version of the mod for the update.

HUD elements will probably take a bit before they are modded. Like I indicated in my above post, there seems to be an issue with the editor at present so many mods that could work aren't able to. That has set current mod developers back and limited what they work on.

Ive been a fan of the battletech franchise since the days of Mechwarrior 2. that was my first game into the series and still kicks ass.
