I prefer playing games in a smaller window rather than full-screen. Any way to force this game into a smaller window?

You can switch between fullscreen and window mode by pressing F5.

Triple-P94 is right :)

And in the in-game options, choose Screen> WIndow to switch between 1024*600 and 640*400.
