I am running windows vista 64 and have tried several things to enact a full screen resolution, but the best I have been able to do is adjust my display settings to the minimum so that I get about 3/4 of my screen full. I've tried all different resolutions on the Dosbox graphic display to no avail. Hitting Alt + Enter makes the border of the 3/4 screen go completely black which isn't too bad. Any suggestions?
Its been 15 years since I played this and it's still a great game, but I don't remember it running soooo slow, especially on large or huge galaxies. Are there any ways to speed the gameplay up. Thanks

You can adjust the game performance by increasing dosbox's cycles with ctrl+F12. They start to be playable at ~10000 cycles for me.

As for resolution settings, it would be helpful to know which MoO you're talking about. This section of the forum is for all 3.
How old is your computer btw? Some old computers have trouble running DOSBox games because DOSBox itself requires a lot of processor power (unless this is the only DOSBox game you have trouble with?).
Sorry I didn't include all the info...i am referring to Moo 1 and I will certainly try to adjust the dosbox cycles. As for my computer, it is only 4 years old and has a good video card. I have run dosbox on it with other games no problem and it runs more advanced games like Civilization V very well. Thanks for your continued help.
Sounds like the issue I've had on an old XP pc. Try choosing DDraw+fullscreen+maintain aspect ratio in the setup program, that did the trick for me.
That worked, thanks a lot for your help!!!
Settings i recommend for most DOSBox games are these:

fullresolution=original
output=surface
aspect=true
scaler=hq2x

Unfortunately you cant set the fullscreen resolution in the gog config tool. They usually set it to desktop wich doesnt work well combined with surface output. Open the games .conf file manually and edit it.

I don't know about fullscreen, but I found that MOO2 doesn't like hq2x very much when run in a window. "normal2x forced" seems to be a better option there.
I just ordered and installed the MOO 1 + 2
I on our new
Windows 8 and the game runs slower than molasses running MOO 2. What can I do to speed it up? Thanks.

As Avogadro wrote above you can adjust the game's cycles (the apparent rate of the CPU) up by hitting ctrl+F12.
