I had no place to be, the day after I bought MOO almost 15 years ago. It's a good thing, because I played it until 7 am, slept for three hours, and played it well into the following evening. This is one of the best balanced, most engaging, epic 4x games of all time. It's like watching that rare movie where the script is perfect, not a line wasted, the acting is perfect, every word delivered just so. That feeling that they just couldn't improve on it much at all.
It's a pity about the dated graphics. It's a shame that there was never really a worthy successor that built on the Orion formula. (MOO2 was ok, and it's best not to talk about MOO3). But forget about all of that. If you've never played this Hope Diamond of PC gaming, plunk down your six bucks and fire it up. Do it NOW. You won't be sorry.
