I think I've had enough of this game. It's old, the AI cheats, the game encourages early aggression where my instincts are to secure my defenses first, and when playing the Mrrshan, the everyone-but-humans diplomatic penalty means that the final war starts basically as soon as my initial expansion stops, sometimes sooner, and at that point my tech and espionage can't compete.

In short, the game isn't my style. But I was never here for the gaemplay in the first place. Does anyone know of other strategy, or role-playing, or any-other-genre, games with a playable species of cats as adorable as the MoO1 Mrrshan?
MoO2?
I could never get into MoO1, but I adored MoO2, and Mrrshan are still there.

As for where you can has kitteh... in the first three Wing Commander episodes I've had a lot of fun playing with the Kilrathi, they make such a cute noise when you unload a stream of laz0rs in their faces! =^.^=

But if that's not what you were looking for, the Elder Scrolls saga has a playable race called the Kahjiit, I guess it's your best bet. They look very similar to Mrrshan.
i've beat the game on hard with mrrshan but cant get it on impossible

Any genre? Well, the Elder Scrolls series of games have the Khajit race.

Also, Age of Wonders 2, a fantasy strategy game, has the Tigrans.
I apologize for how slow I've been to reply to this, and thanks for everyone's advice. I may have to look up Skyrim after all -- I played enough Arena to get to know the setting (did you know it's freeware now?), and I love how they're giving individual provinces the AAA-game treatment.

Maybe they'll eventually get to Khajiit country ("Elseweyr" -- I hope it gets a new name before then), or High Rock or one of the not-corrupt elf countries.

In the meantime, I think I've gotten over MOO -- although I've certainly discovered that the niche of 'playable 4X game with adorable cat people' is a largely empty one. (I've tried MoO2, but the Mrrshan are less ridiculously adorable and the gameplay feels somehow _off_.)

Thanks again.

Sure thing. Also, I just remembered that the Avernum series of indie crpgs has the Nephilim (feline humanoids) as a playable race.
