Update: it seems there is an actual problem there with your save, but 0.74 DOSBox is "forgiving" and the game continues anyway. Need to investigate cause.

EDIT: As a temporary solution, you can download adjusted HESTRNGS file from below link and overwrite existing one in MOO2 subdirectory: 150\language\en\HESTRNGS.LBX
This should prevent your game from freezing upon hire leader click.
Lemme know if it indeed works.

Not sure if ever mentioned or not I as a let me say Veteran of 1000+ hours of MoO2 still found these Bugs while playing and enjoying MoO2 with the 150 patch .

Leader Pool Bug
When you pool a leader and go out of the leaders tab you can again go in it and the Leader is instant back at your homeworld.

Outpost-Colony Bug
When you arrive at a system with only astroids or Gas gigants with an outpost and colony ship at the same time.
You get first asked to settle the outpost than Colony ship even if there is no planet for a colony.
I'm not sure if you then get a crash when you try to settle then.

Fleet see bug
When you see a single battleship at the Galaxy Map and look into fleets and zoom over the fleet you see then all ships contained in the fleet even if you not scan them at the Galaxy Map for example a colony ship.

Items 1&2 are known issues with the game.

Item2: there will be no crash, just a pop-up telling you, you cannot build there.

Item3: I do not quite understand what you mean, can you elaborate? tx..

Ok here info to item3.

I meant I see at the galaxy map a battleship of the humans and in fleet tab i see a battleship too when i click at that fleet, but thee tool tip says it is a battleship and a colony ship.
(I also saw both a round ago)

Only 1280x960 (scaler 2x) resolution works for me, the remaining ones just give me a black screen. And I really can't play it that way, as you can see why in the screenshot.
Also, why is this not sticky?

So it looks like you have a low-res desktop. You can try&type a custom resolution in the Launcher resolution box that is beter suited for your desktop. For example 960x720, 800x600, 700x525, etc,

Typing custom resolutions didn't worked, only 1280x960 (scaler 2x) works, typing (scaler 2x) to custom resolutions also don't work.

And fullscreen don't work too, and I like to do other things in my PC while playing games, so I'm not a big fan of fullscreen in games...

'scaler 2x' is only for 1280x960 which is 2x 640x480 hence the '2x'...

then just surface / 640x480 should work
or try overlay..

About sticky: i don't know how to make an existing thread sticky and can't be bothered to do complicated stuff like sending a request to some mod for it. If anyone knows an easy way to make it stick, by all means lemme know.

I am playing 1.50.11

The tech "Weather Control System" states that it turns toxic planets into barren planets. I researched this tech, and when I went to go to build it on a toxic planet, it is not available for building.

The planet is:

Large, Toxic, 4/6 pop, Abundant, with buildings:

Pollution Processor
Automated Factory
Marine Barracks
Robo Miner Plant
(Also I tried building Radiation Shield but it didn't help either)

All the other colonies, it is available to build "Weather Controller".

The description for "Weather Controller" states:

"Modifies a planet's weather patterns to create a more stable farming environment. Food production is increased by +2 per farmer. Will not work on radiated planets. Enhances biomorphic fungi to clean up toxic worlds. Toxic climates become barren"

The tech "Biomorphic Fungi" states:

"Edible synthetic plants designed to grow on lifeless worlds, enabling farming on barren, radiated, and toxic planets. Output is 1 food per farmer."

If I am reading this correctly, if you get Biomorphic Fungi, and then build a Weather Controller, you will then turn a toxic planet into Barren?

Regardless, I think the tooltip for Weather Controller, and Weather Control System should be clarified because I personally did not understand that this other tech was required, because I am not familiar with the game's tech tree. (I assumed Biomorphic Fungi was simply a lore reason to explain how the toxicity is cleaned up). Also, having the second sentence being alone saying "Toxic climates become barren" leaves the target of the sentence unclear. By itself, it might mean that with this tech alone you will make toxic climates barren.

Maybe it should say: "Combines with "Biomorphic Fungi" technology, cleaning toxic worlds to become barren." Or some other way to combine those two sentences.
