Does anyone know if GOG's version of MOO3 can be patched with third party mods which alter the EXE?

Example:

Thanks.

If you alter the EXE chances are you are going to reactivate whatever drm the game originally came with.
Urgh, i take back what i just said, the gog version for some reason mismatches the original exe i have ;/

(So please ignore this post) ;/

I was able to do around 40 patches with the MOO3 Patcher, but for a single patch that seemed to cause the game to crash.

After doing the patches, I played through quite a number of turns and screens. I assume if the GOG version had trouble being patched with third party code changes, then it would have been crashing all of the place. On the other hand, most of the code change patches alter game mechanics. So, there is no easy way to test in order to check if they really took.
Well you can normally mod and patch a game as long as it doesn't swap the main exe file out. At least this is how it works for alot of other games with securom DRM in the original exe. I mean if you already bought the game from here now you could try the mod that changes the exe file and see what happens. Worse case is you have to uninstall and reinstall the game.
I figured out what made the one patch fail.

The GOG version is definitely patchable for all many fixes implemented in the MOO3 Patcher.

I verified that one did patch the EXE, since I scanned it for the string which supposed to be changed. So, I think the GOG version will work with v2.5 mods and patching programs, but not with mods that include a prepatched EXE.

Yep that makes sense, if gog remove the drm from their version of the exe and you replace it with the prepatched exe which has the drm active it will ask for the disc or online activation, or whatever drm it originally had.
