Wargaming Labs and NGD Studios Release Epic Expansion, Introducing New Alien Races and more

November 18, 2016 — The battle to conquer Orion is set to become even more challenging. On December 1, Master of Orion’s anticipated “Revenge of Antares" DLC will become available, giving access to independent civilizations, a new victory condition and more. The expansion also introduces three new playable races to the massive galaxy. Arriving in the DLC expansions are the Trilarians, Gnolam, and Elerians — formidable aliens that will open up new paths to victory as commanders strive for dominance of the galaxy.

“We’re excited to introduce new content for players of Master of Orion,” said Jacob Beucler, Publishing Product Director for Master of Orion. “They will find themselves in a new environment, filled with new challengers, adventures and new enemies to face off with or forge an alliance with. This content will add new dimensions to the game’s already robust lore.”

Three of the newly available races (Trilarian, Gnolam and Elerian) can be purchased in a single bundle. With the addition of these playable races, the possibilities and strategy multiplies as players forge their galactic destiny in even more unique ways.

Additionally, as a response to the dedicated Master of Orion player community, a free expansion will also be offered to all players. This expansion deepens the gameplay by allowing them the ability to recruit new leaders to their side, battle the fourth new, non-playable race; the Antarans and interact with independent civilizations.

So, just who are these new alien races and what roles do they play in Master of Orion? The aquatic Trilarian are a peaceful race that has abandoned the concept of war. However, when a true threat presents itself, their resolute honor compels them to fiercely fight for their objective.

The Gnolams are known as the most skilled traders in the galaxy, basking in the decadence that their wealth and luck brings them. This charmed race is the constant benefactor of good fortune, making them beneficial allies or cunning enemies.

The elegant yet xenophobic race the Elerians, present an interesting and exclusive aspect to the game. They will trade and communicate with other races, yet reject any potential negative alien influence on the Elerian culture. This resistance to all outside cultures makes them uncompromising foes.

The Antarans are a mysterious race genetically engineered by ancient and unknown masters. In time, they have become deeply war driven, bent on a fervent path of galactic expansion. Heavily militarized and despotic, the Antarans move through the galaxy bending all they encounter to their will.

Master of Orion DLC will be purchasable for $9.99 via GoG

Have you watched your own trailer?

I quote from the trailer's description on youtube:
" Cross paths with the Elarians who are never one to back down from fight; call on the aid of the Gnolams to recruit lady luck to your side; and unleash the full force of your empire to defeat the warmongering Trilarian"

And in the trailer the "warmongering" trilarians also talk with a darth vader voice and tell us that our destruction is the will of their gods.

Epic fail.

So what is the new wincondition?
I assume killing the antarans?
I really really don't want to complain about it too much but it will be yet another obsolete wincondition.
It is already so that the economic victory option is the only real one out there.
No matter what path you pursue you will be able to win through it before any other option, even if you don't actively go for it.
I hope that gets fixed.

9,99$ feels like a fair price but consider this:
Almost all the features that were mentioned EXISTED in MoO2, 20 years ago.
You took stuff from that game and removed it from yours, now you sell it to us as DLC.
Don't expect us to be thankful for that.
I will accept it, but nothing more.
When it will be available at GOG?
Oof, I was really looking forward to this and I don't really like to criticize the artistic side of things (art being so subjective and all), but I can't say I like the re-designs of any of these races.

I guess the Elerians are more or less as they were always going to be (blue human females)... I've got no idea how the Gnolam and Trilarian have gone from their MOO2 designs to this though :(

The free DLC sounds pretty cool, at least.
Very much looking forward to playing as the Gnolam (one of my favoritest to play) and to blasting the Elerian (who are quite a challenge as an opponent.)

Just wondering when this will be released. The schedule says December 1, and the day has arrived, but no sign of the DLC.
I'm asking myself the same thing, no information is to be found anywhere..
DLC in Store and Update loading 2.8 GB.........
I purchased the DLC and the three races are there in an unplayable state. Supposedly if you purchase them, they become playable. I imagine there will need to be a mod to the main game for that?
Okay, downloaded all of the new files, installed, reinstalled the DLC content, and the new races are not playable. I paid for the DLC which meant that they were supposed to be playable. What else do I need to do?

How are you installing the DLC, if I may ask?

Downloaded the files, and double clicked on each file, the install dialog runs, and after accepting the EULA, I hit Install. The install says it completes.

I installed the main game first and it is running as 54.6 as expected, but the new races aren't available to be selected when starting a new game.

Do you have any old saves and did you uninstall the old version of the game or did you install the updated version over the old one?

I installed over the old version and I do have old saves. Do I need to clear out the saves? I do have some mods as well, but they're all inactivated.

I would a) back up your old saves just in case b) completely uninstall the old version of the game and c) reinstall the game using the new files.

Please read through the changelog where it mentions saves not being compatible as well the section about mods :) Not being facetious, just pointing out a possible issue :)

I can try that, but it would seem to be excessive. I think there's something missing here, in that the DLC has a page describing what's new, but there are no downloads there.
