Probably 'working as intended,' but thought I would check to see if anyone has also encountered this:

I'm trying to win by researching enough Antaran ruins to create a wormhole to their dimension. This appears to require 4 asteroid research bases on asteroids that specifically have Antaran ruins. However, by the time I am able to get to ruins that are far from my starting point, other races have already built research nodes on them. Races I happen to be at peace with.

I was hoping there was a diplomacy request to have them cede the base to me. No such luck.

Does this mean that in order to win by Antaran research, I have to destroy my allies' asteroid bases, go to war with them, and then build my own asteroid bases over their bodies? All I wanted to do was save the universe from the Antarans!

I think you can use a portal that your ally builds, but otherwise war it is since the antaran’s ruins cannot be traded and the tech to build the gates cannot be traded or stolen.
