Man, the word 'veterans' is here for a reason :). I think, true veterans should know about these mods, and try to keep abreast of any news and events in MoM Universe.
And there's Google Search, finally. Everyone who's interested (from newbies and not-so-veterans) could use it absolutely free of charge :)

Yeah, well some people don't know about them. The website that hosts the MoM forum is beyond obscure, it's basically a club for a small number of people to play video games together. It has no visibility in the wider internet and it's a miracle that anyone at all knows about it.

Besides, including a link is just common courtesy. I'm not going to search google for that crap, too much work and that's why the URL was invented.

I tried it and it's very good. Some minor bugs, but wow so much fixed and improved. The guy knows what he's doing.

I'm very glad it's still worked on. There is still no alternative to MoM.

What one did you try? I'm not a big fan of user-added content so I plan to test MoM 1.5 but still hasn't had time for it.

And yes, MoM is still the King. Maybe only Dominions serie could match in some aspects though it's a slightly different kind of strategy game nevertheless. Triumph has killed the AoW serie with the third iteration for me, while the previous two ones have much common with MoM (yet on the lower level of execution though).

I've played Caster of Magic for a bit. Approach it the same way you approach MoM and you'll be really hurtin'. Normally Warlocks can trounce 99% of random dungeons, but I ran into a lot of setups that really caused problems. Nightblades are much more of a threat than they used to be, for example.

The 1.5 patch is just a patch, it doesn't aim to improve the game outside of making it play they way it should, bug fixes, etc. Caster of Magic aims to make the game better, while still playing/feeling like MoM.

I disagree, I think that Caster of Magic is a different game that utilizes the Master of Magic graphics and ruleset. Tons of things have been changed and the game plays completely differently.

I played a lot more CoM and the main thing for me is it has the best AI. You can do diplomacy now, they will defend their cities and the will live in peace with you if it fits them. Add to that there aren't any easy win strategies anymore and a lot of originally inferior options have been made viable. I'm really impressed.

What about Unofficial Patch 1.50? Is it good? From what I have read in the past some people were complaining. I think it was about the crashes. Did anybody played it recently? If so what is your opinion on it?

1.50 is better than 1.4 Insecticide. It still has issues, though, like neverending wars with computer players. Seravy says he has some patches to make it better in v1.51.

Oh. so it is better than 1.40n? I know 1.40o is bugged. I actually read the forums and from what I have gathered the 1.50 has supposedly AI errors also (maybe that wars you have written about). However it seems like new version will be soon.
