We are currently developing character growth options for Man O' War: Corsair and want your suggestions.


When you level up, you will be awarded skill points to spend on skills. We currently have 4 skill trees, see below with a mock up of the page.

Leadership

Stat Boost 1 - Bonus 5% to boarding morale
Rallying Cry - [Active] Big boost to boarding actions for 30s

Gunnery

Stat Boost 1 - Reduce reload speed by 5% - (Note: should this be “Increase reload speed by 5%”?)
Target weak point? - [Active] Fire a volley with a bonus against enemy saving rolls.

Ship Control

Stat Boost 1 - Expand full sail angle by 5°
Wind Boost - [Active] When sailing with the wind, 50% speed boost for 30s

Special

Eagle Eyed - ship stats appear 50% quicker when viewed through the spyglass.
Charismatic - you can buy goods in any port 10% cheaper.


What skills or skill trees would you like to see in the game? :)
I think Charisma + Leadership should be expanded upon, captaining a vessel is mostly about commanding immediate obedience from your crew to get things done. Even if a captain is an amazing navigator, a crew that doesn't respect him or her stops a ship from going anywhere.

I'd like to see more skills relating to getting more out of the crew, and for dealing with social aspects in general, such as maybe investing skill points in High Elf Etiquette and getting a small blanket relation bonus with them. If there are a finite amount of skills, it would be cool if there was a dump "skill" that acts as reputation, maybe giving very slightly better trade deals or earning better rewards from quests, anything to drop points on if I've learned every other skill.

have not played it yet, but please whatever you do, enable respec without a penalty so player can play around with the skilltree to see what fits him best.
