Each time I try to run M.A.X. 2 I get a black screen for a few seconds followed by the message Screen Init Fail error. I have installed the 1.03 and 1.04 patches but it makes no difference. M.A.X. 1 runs fine but does run on dosbox. I have tried to contact GOG support but for some reason the link on the support page won't work, it just sends me back to my main support page. There is another topic in this board on this subject but the only response is from GOG telling the creator to contact them. Anyone seen this and know how to fix it?

Just tried myself, yes you can not select max.....weird.....
Use the problem with website link as this is also a problem with the website ;)
Edit, a few more hints might be useful ;) I know that W10 did break some stuff (the latest updates, but maybe some of the solutions for other games might work for you as well at least till support comes back to you ;) )

Try this::

The same was somewhere posted here on GOG, but nevertheless just copied from a steam thread:

1. Download the v1.1.38 Version of the programm:

http://download.savannah.nongnu.org/releases/wined3d

2. Download the wined3d.exe
3. Extract It with 7zip or other extract-programm.
6. Copy ddraw.dll, libwine.dll and wined3d.dll from extracted $SYSDIR folder into the root folder of your JA2_wildfire installation.

This works for me on Windows 10 64bit.

I installed MAX2 from the original CD last night on my Window 10 PC and it installed without a hitch. I patched to 1.4US and it works fine. Just wish it had higher resolutions cause it's such an awesome game.
