I suspect they mean that with the patch beyond version 1.0 most of the content was probably due to the MP aspects and that without any servers now officially supported this patch data was not needed and could cause confusion and problems.
And though there are not official servers I am sure MP will still function in something like a LAN setup or there might be some independant servers setup for the game

Well, Stixs, have you managed to ever play the original MAX1 over Hamachi? Could you tell us what sort of magic was involved on that? Because the last time I tried to do this (extensive testing with other people) we could not make the game work properly, it would be terribly slow, like units moving soooo slow on screen, and after 3 or 4 turns the game would crash, even if we didn`t buy any units and didn`t order any construction to happen. Gotta be careful with these types of suppositions and misguiding people dude.
