When I start M.A.X. 2 I get the following message in a dialog box:
"Not enough Extended MEmory available to run M.A.X. 2
Amount Needed: 6000000, Amount found: -1"
Can someone tell me how to get past this?
Thank you

It appears other have had this problem as well. The thread has a work around but its a very annoying one having to limit your entire system memory just to play the game. Then you would have to lift the limit when you wanted to play something newer. Details in this thread though.

Yes, I posted in that same thread myself one year ago. I was hoping someone might, by now, have a better solution :(

Ahh so you did, not seen anything better from looking about the forums. I guess you could try gog support again incase they came across something.
I'm having problems with several GOG games though. And I'm almost 100% certain every one of my problems is because I'm running XP 64 bit - Maybe I should take the plunge and finally upgrade to Windows 7 - I'm worried that I'll have the same 64 bit issues there too though
Hmm that might explain the memory errors if your running XP 64. Are the problems this same memory error message or different problems with different games?
I'm running 7 64 bit home edition, I don't own max but what other games do you have that your having issues with?
I've not had this same error message. Only with MAX2 did I get this. But Myst (the original not realMyst) does not run at all on my PC (sometimes it sits in my tasklist using 100% CPU but never actually shows anything but mostly it just dies as soon as I try run it without any feedback at all).
See my post here if you're really curious ;)

Had the same exact error on W7 64bit, as with any gog game that gives you initial problems, uninstall the game completely, even from the gog downloader, then redownload and install on your machine, this cleared up the error for me.
We have fixed this problem in the new installer. The game should now launch and run without problems on computers with over 3GB of memory. Feel free to redownload the installer if you experienced this problem.
