You know how this is a risk for the modders' support of non-Steam versions...

P.S.: I might still buy it because parallel releases on Steam and GoG *and* Linux support on GoG have to be supported !

The devs that have completely ignored their GOG release?
It's a lot more work for them with two updates and the Linux version on Steam on GOG and don't forget that they did it for the demo.

We are not a second class citizen for them, the Workshop will certainly be present in the final version.
Steam Workshop is supported, because Steam provides this functionality. GoG Galaxy doesn't have workshop in any form AFAIK.

However Lumencraft supports sharing maps directly. The map folder is available from main menu, you can easily copy the files around. There is an official Nexus Mods page where you can share maps. Also the Steam Workshop allows 3rd party downloads, so you can get the maps without using Steam.

Also to clarify, Steam Workshop is for now custom maps only (from the map editor). Lumencraft doesn't have official modding support and so there is no mod sharing via workshop. If this gets added, we'll make sure that GoG version will also support the same mods.

If you have any suggestions how the workshop support for GoG version can be improved, feel free to share.

Hi, thanks for a great game, and again, for the Linux support !

Today Steam Workshop allows 3rd party downloads (does it ?), tomorrow it doesn't - Valve breaking 3rd party tools that allow them already happened before, and it will happen again.

The issue is the normalization of platforms, especially of store-tied ones. (GoG Galaxy is slightly worrying in that too, I've heard that some GoG games now require it ? Still a far cry from the situation on Steam.)

There's a social aspect of it as well : if most people start using Steam Workshop (or, for other games, Steam online MultiPlayer, which is even worse), then hardly anyone will upload/download maps and mods to/from neutral places like their own websites, ModDb, Nexus Mods...
The official Nexus Mods page (I can't post links for some reason, but it should be easy to find) has existed for months and it's basically dead. It has 1 map and 1 outdated mod, both coming from the game's developers.

I kind of understand what you are trying to say, but so far no one from the community stepped up or asked about any map repository outside the Steam workshop. That one person (or it was two) who asked about Nexus Mods never used the page. There is a bit of fault on our side for not endorsing such possibility properly, but to me seems like non-Steam players aren't very interested in creating and sharing custom maps (judging from lack of requests on our Discord and bug tracker, and this forum here). Unless there is some community page/discussion I'm not aware of.

If there comes some player incentive for better non-Steam map support, we are open to promoting it as an alternative.

Fair.

Thanks for taking the time to reply here.
