Okay so I set the game on medium difficulty. I level up my army, liberate the temple and set to work conquering my neighbors. Everything seems to be going fine until round 50 when suddenly the hand of God reaches down from the heavens and whips me out of existence.

Here is what i mean.

I am playing Air, Chaos has been conquered and the dwarves are being a pain so i attack them and kill their lord. Now i know as soon as i kill him all of his troops will attack me but he has an earth worm that eats through two of my armies and kills my lord. I go back and try hold off till my troops are stronger and i get attacked by a marauding party with 2 pegasus and sprites and i am whipped out again.

I started over and played Order and everything was fine until Balkoth himself comes down out of no where and kills me.

Then i tried playing the elves and the lord of Fire was hostile so i try to invade and faced an army that had me totally out gunned.

How am i supposed to survive stuff like that? and it always happens around turn 50.

I believe you should just consider your strategies more carefully, or start on Easy difficulty at first.

Did you meet Pegasi in the marauder party? Perhaps you've got a bugged LOMSE 3.00 with the Pegasi bug. Try to download official 3.01 patch, or Ascension64's unofficial 3.02 patch, or even Mantera's GS5 Mod, which really balances the game. 1<2<3, in my opinion.


If you feel hard to survive marauder attacks, you can abuse the lastsave bug (if marauder party attacks, restart the game and load lastsave.lom, it works every time)


Killing Lords is always a big headache, especially in unmodded LOMSE, so you should feel yourself prepared to such kind of action first.


I hope you don't use Autocalc against Fire troops. ;)


Balkoth it's just Balkoth, he's a pain in the ass. You can try to abuse some vanilla LOM defects, like hiring hordes of mercenaries to weaken the Balkoth's army. He will always escape if you won't be able to kill him, but this will give you time for further play.
