Sorry if this issue is already discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. I can't seem to play LOTR 2 at all using the GOG download. LOTR1 works fine(though I must run it as admin to get any sound) but the major draw for this package was LOTR2. Anyway, basically I'm using Windows 7 home premium(I assume my other specs don't really matter, they're well beyond minimum requirements for this game, though that may be the problem), when downloaded it defaults the compatibility to 256 colors and disable visual themes. I've tried pretty much every combination possible in the compatibility screen and have the same effect whether I run it as admin or just normal. The screen will go black, I'll get the little blue loading circle for a sec, the screen will flash back to the desktop, go black again for a sec and then return to the desktop like I never tried to run anything. Anyone know how to fix this, pls?

I don't know what might fix it, but I can link you to previous posts on the issue:

Setting the resolution to 640 x 480 sounds like it might be worth trying.

Also, try installing to a location outside of c:\Program Files, something like c:\Games, where the permissions are notn restricted.

Thanks. The resolution seems to be the issue. Problem is my computer monitor is widescreen, this it only goes down to a minimum of 720 x 480(either that or it's my graphics card refuses to go below that, lol). My tiny laptop works just fine though. Oh, and in case anyone else runs into the issue I had with lowering the resolution, most computers have a high and a low resolution setting that's still well above the 640 x 480 required for these older games but if you go into the advanced settings and go into your graphics card it offers options to lower the resolution past it's 'low' setting.
