I really tried to like this game. I did.

But the biggest problem I found was that I made a character that only specialized in combat, and it still failed. The grind in this game is obscene and I got stuck with the goblin king. The main problem is that regardless of your skills, the game almost expects you to know exactly how it wants you to make your character; even though it states to make him or her however you want.

Im going to throw this out there, I doubt that any of the premade character classes are playable throughout the whole game.

How did you fight the Goblin Khan? If you have searched the maps around the goblin village thoroughly you should have found something that simplifies fighting the Khan. If you have not found this, then defeating him is nearly impossible - and it is meant to be like this! The Khan is not only a powerful elite goblin fighter, he is also possessed by the Daeva Tawrich, a creature which is as powerful as your spirit - thus it would hardly make sense if you could knock him over like any random goblin soldier ;)

And generally: I'm sorry, but I can't understand how you say that there is obscene grind in the game as long as you're referring to the areas around Barcelona. There are so many NPC's and interesting quests (especially there are several quests which can be solved without having to fight anything at all) that you actually can hardly get bored if you exploit all these possibilities ;)

I played Lionheart for 17h and i'm going to give up I believe. First part of the game is great, a good balance of speech-investigation-combat-explore. Background is nice too ; it lacks of depth when you scratches a little but the storyline is great. But what begins as a cool Fallout-Like turns to mediocrity when you get out of the first town -Barcelona. And endless Diablo clone, without the charm or fun and with a game-breaking difficulty.

There's a lot of good stuff in the game, mostly in the first 10 hours. I have a lot of respect for those who actually finished the game. I don't have that kind of patience. I was quickly bored of killing bunches of zombies in endless dungeons.. In the end, because i liked the original plot/background and Barcelona's episode.
It's worth 3 stars for me ! But what a disappointement, what a potential ruined...

I have a few questions regarding this game. I have never given it a chance really and want to play it but need to know a few things that might help me.

1-Just how hard is the game for a melee one handed sword demo kin warrior? I want to know if this game is as brutal as Inquisitor. If the game has shit like that where I can get 1 shotted by almost anything, then Im out of it. I have to admit it seems like such a cool game which is why I picked it up. I just figured I want to get the scoop :)

2-For 3 skills Should I go all out with one handed (offense), evasion (defense), and lock picking. I didn't use evasion last time and I just want to know if the game is possible to play melee without evasion and just hardcore sturdiness (constitution) I was going to put most points into weapon skill and then some into locks and evasion for defense.

If anyone knows and can help me with these things I'd be grateful as I really want to get into this game. Thanks.

I don't know if this will help, but here's what I played and had a blast (and didn't find it impossible at all):

Human Female

Traits: Gifted and Skilled
High investment in Intelligence, Perception, Agility, and Luck

I went totally ranged with this character (I don't think I ever used a melee weapon), so invested in ranged combat as well as Evasion. Also put points into Locks, Traps, and Diplomacy.

For magic, I invested in the Divine discipline, putting all points into Fortitude (for healing) and Protective.

As I noted, I found the game fun and not too terribly difficult. Not sure how your plan would work out, but I do know that the final couple areas will be tougher for melee than they were with a ranged character (just due to the way they're set up).

So evasion should be used for melee and or ranged regardless?

Probably a very good idea if you're not playing as a magic user I think, although I don't know exactly what the mechanics calculations in the game engine are so can't make a judgment call on whether it's a 'must-have'. Looked like it was a good idea to me though.
I like the game, I've played through it twice and am on my third playthrough now. There's a lot of customization and choice and the gameplay is nice. It's basically a medieval Fallout with better combat imo (although VATS has it's perks).

My only real negative with it was the fair amount of bugs and lack of resolution options, the story also falls a bit flat after the halfway point but the game is still fun albeit a bit hack n' slashy.

It's an awful lot like Divine Divinity and other games of it's time.
