Overall, Leisure Suit Larry 7 works great on my machine...except for one area.

When you beat Dewmi Moore in gambling, and she gives you a drug trip, the graphics start to become jumpy, and the music doesn't play right...(not that I expected all the images to be right, it is meant to be a psychedelic scene after all).

One can compare it with this video on youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBoRyn5-XXM&list=PL50FC4EE4592021FF
(The trip starts about 4:53)

This may be due to my machine, but I wonder if others have the same problem.

I doubt there is anything GoG can do to fix this (and this isn't a complaint).

Addendum:
Ugh, I didn't think...however, it does seem to be running better if you set compatability for Windows 95 or Windows 98. Not perfect, but much better.

Is Larry 7 running on modified windows version, or under dos version in dosbox?

it's the windows version
Would it be difficult to patch in the dos version?
Patches won't fix this. It has to do with the fact that video codecs change over time. This scene and the scene on the fashion runway are both FMV sequences. In the game's original release playing on an appropriate computer, the scenes would have looked fine.

It's the same with any other game that uses FMV sequences. Phantasmagoria 1 and 2 were horrible for this.
I had some trouble with crashes when entering a new location, which seemed to be sound related. So i edited the RESOURCE.WIN with a texteditor and setting the useDirectSound entry to true seems to have fixed the problem with the crashes. Also the trippy scene runs much, much smoother now for me.
Have the same problem.

right at the drug trip scene, when the grim reaper guys apear during larrys halucination, the video starts to stutter and the game crashes.

tried changing stuff in the recource.win and play with the compatibility mode.
it seems to change it a little bit, but the game still crashes eventually at roughly the same point.

Will keep trying, should i find out something, i will post it here.
Okay, now the only way around that crash i found in this short period of time, was to play through the crashing part with a different version than the english one.
I download and install the german version of the game (haven't tested the other ones), into a different folder.
When u start the gernan version, u can load the same savegames.
I had one just before she looses the game and the video starts. The video in the german version has no bug whatsoever.
So after the video I saved, quit the german and started the english version of the game, loading my new savegame.
So far i haven't noticed any problems with the "other... " textimput. I think as long as you just play throug the video and dont do to much in-game, it shouldn't really mess up the language packs. but i could be wrong, so no guaranties!
Thanx for the tip. I used the same trick by installing the German version to get through the scene and that worked for me too.

I think Baggins meant if using the DOS version would fix the problem, which it should. The problem occurs in the Windows version because the codec is a system file and not part of the game's code. But in the DOS version, it is part of the game's code.

I had problem with the cook-off competition. Game always crashed, when the judges were tasting quiche. I came to forums to search for potential solutions and this fixed also my problem. Cheers!
