Player_01: ScummVM is awesome for some stuff but this just isnt right. I don't understand why DOSbox wasn't used.

I still can't get used to the difference in sound while playing Larry 1.
Dosbox required time to play with the config, test on multiple machines and the like ScummVM on the other hand is just point to the gamedata and your set and given how this was their "500" release it's possible they had a rush order on it and so they went with Scumm instead of Dosbox.
They've updated their games before. We should keep asking them.

Otherwise, I'd love to see a thread about how to set-up, tweak and troubleshoot DOSBox with these games.

I'm not sure whether it's an issue with ScummVM or just the way GOG configured these games but I'd have prefered to have Dosbox with all Larry games and not just the SVGA version of Shape Up Or Slip Out. Not only because GOG's Dosbox games comes with a nice easy to use setting program that allow me to easily switch to 4:3 aspect ratio but for the sake of playing the games the way they were designed to be played in term of hardware, which Dosbox does better than ScummVM.
Hi,

I'm a ScummVM developer.

It seems that this is actually a SDL bug. SDL is the library, that we use for graphic output.
I was able to reproduce the problem with an "SDL.dll" from 2009. When I use the latest SDL.dll, which is from 2012, then the bug doesn't happen for me (I'm using Windows XP).

So I guess GOG distributes ScummVM with an outdated SDL.dll?!
Can someone from GOG please check?

I own several physical Leisure Suit Larry collections, but I haven't bought the game from GOG.
So I can't personally try using the version sold by GOG. Can someone please try?

Latest SDL.dll can be obtained from www.libsdl.org, please look for SDL 1.2.

Oh and btw. this SDL bug affected all game engines in ScummVM, not just the SCI engine. It always happened, when the game was running in fullscreen mode.

It would be very helpful, if such bugs could reported to our bug tracker, which is located on sourceforge.net.

Regards
Martin Kiewitz

EDIT: I have gotten a reply from GOG. They distribute the correct SDL.dll since February 2015. So this issue shouldn't happen anymore.
