Hi: I am loving this game! :) Is there a way that I can know (prior to purchasing armor/weapons) if it will work with the character I want to buy it for. Currently I am saving before shopping and then reloading when I waste money buying stuff my character can't use.

What do you mean by "can't use"? Technically each class can use any equipment as long as it's within reasonable encumberance limits. Encumberance is displayed next to the item.
