hercufles: At this moment im playing lands of lore and i was thinking too my self too bad that this kind of game isnt coming out anymore and now i read this :) It cant get any better. Or may eob, magic candle and dm 1 and 2?
+1 from me also! Grimrock to me at any rate is Dungeon Master III and pre-ordering it was easily the best thing I did today :D

GOG try and get the DM and EOB games too. I loved these on my Miggy back in the 90s

Also just in case someone out there does not know already DM1, CSB and DMII were re-made in one easy to use package called Return to Chaos. Its free and can be found here http://www.ragingmole.com/RTC/
One of the main reasons I am on GOG is / was hope for Eye of the Beholder series. Now I know it will not be easy to get it here but still.... I always loved dungeons crawlers and we already have some here (like Lands of Lore).

When I saw Legend of Grimrock here I was sooo happy. Too bad I am not able to buy it so it will need to wait longer but I really have high expectations about this game and I really hope it will not disappoint me when I will play it in some, at this moment unspecified, future.

Thanks for the link +1 from me but is return to chaos a sequal?
Maybe I hope against hope, but maybe this engine, which looks both excellent and true to the Crawler-RPG style could be used to re-release updated versions of EOB 1-3, DM 1&2 and maybe even Bloodwych (anyone remember that ;) )

In any circumstance, i am looking forward to this game anxiously.

On another note...GoG needs Captive, without the bug that crashes a certain seed.
Or liberation, for that matter...

WE NEED MORE CRAWLERS !!!!

:D
well since it is ubisoft that has the right to SSI games I think gog will or have talked to them but they are pro DRM. just look at most of there games they have released in the last couple of years. also on DRM and later a patch that removes it :D

Chaos Strikes Back was technically a mission disk- it used pretty much all the same graphics and the same engine. However it was playable standalone, but was preferable to migrate your characters over from DM.

I know somepeople do think of it as a true sequel. Either way, it is fantastic, and not as linear as DM

Depends on your point of view - i know some people think of it as a sequel

Well i can understand why they do it i have red a very good reason wich i didnt understand before, piracy ok movies and music are ppirated also you think yes but what i understand is gaming is harder to earn you money on if the sales are terrible music and movies ave other ways to earn money, They earn money when music is on the radio, on tv, movies they can earn it from when they come out in the cimema, when they come on those websites, and then on dvd and then on tv, but gaming is diffrence or it is a multiplatform game wich there sales is tripled but that is the only way they get mobney from it so you understand expecialy with those diffecult times that they are a bit stingy and trying to sell as most copies that they can.

the problem is that they say that they lose money because of piracy but they don't say how many people that pirate the games go out and buy the game because its good afterwards and that goes for music and movies. DRM has not stopped people but made more crackers and hackers try to go around it. The best exsample is the witcher 2. the pirate version that is out there is the DRM version from steam not the gog version.

The 3 DM games included in Return To Chaos are faithful reproductions of the originals that are fixed to run on modern machines. However there are custom dungeons available here for RTC and CSBWin.

Here is the link http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=view/CustomDungeons

And to save you digging here is the link again for RTC http://ragingmole.com/RTC/

Also, there is Dungeon Master Java to be had here that will work for you MAC fans out there
http://homepage.mac.com/aberfield/dmj/index.html

That lot should keep you busy and in practice until Grimrock arrives! :D

Thanks i have dl it and i love the game even if im not very good at that kind of games, finding the way :)
Some elements in the video reminded me to Lands of Lore - a game I loved very much.
I was always hoping to see a HD remake of that game - but for some reason, this type of games faded away. Sure, the movement in a 3D environment is nice (Morrowind, Oblivion, etc), nice, but there are are good deal of people out there who like old-school dungeon crawlers.
I am one of them. So, I am happy to see that the Finns have recognized the potential and give us an opportunity to play a game like this finally in high definition.
The video looks very very promising and I am happy that it comes without DRM on GOG.
I can only wish there were more of these coming...
Kiitoksia ja onneksi olkoon Kanadasta!

I was just browsing GOG and saw this, clicked the link, watched the vid
and thought - Yes, finally a modern take on DM.

The movement, the puzzles and yes even the button on the wall (in the vid)
so reminiscent of DM.

I played the oiginal DM on an Amiga (showing my age) and still play it now
(PC emulation) works fine but still i wanted more, i wanted a company to
produce a modern version of DM. I knew the big games companies wouldnt
touch it, as the style of play has moved on etc,

Now a small independant company has done it and I say Thank You,
Ill be pre-ordrering.
