I've looked through these forums as well as the Steam and Eidos forums and haven't been able to find a fix yet. I start up the game and I can hear the intro, music, etc but the screen is pitch black. I've tried different compatibility modes, setting affinity, run as administrator and nothing seems to work.

Any help or assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 64 bit
i5-3570K @ 3.4GHz
ASUS Sabertooth Z77
MSI GTX 670
16 GB RAM

Thanks for the tip. The screen is still pitch black when I launch the game. Any other ideas?

You may try running setup and change some options there like refresh rate for example. The only time I experienced black screen was when I enabled some unsupported options in the registry (DisableVshader) - if setup does not help you may try changing something there.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "running setup." Could you give a bit more detail on what exactly I should try and do? Thanks.

I don't currently have GOG version installed so I can't check, but there should be a setup shortcut in the start menu. If there isn't you have to run the game with "-setup" parameter:
1) Windows key + R (or Start -> Run)
2) C:\Wherever the game is installed\Blood Omen 2\bo2.exe -setup

I currently have the Steam version installed and added " -setup" as the launch option and nothing changed. Is this what you are referring to?

Weird. You should see a config dialog like the one in the attachment and it should appear on the first start anyway. I assume you cannot run the game without Steam (that happens but is extremely rare)?
Right now the only suggestion I can think of is going to registry and setting up resolution and refresh rate manually to something "safe" like 1024x768x32 @ 60Hz and checking if that helps.
Also - do you happen to have an integrated graphics card alongside that GTX? A wild guess but maybe the game is trying to run on something else than your main card.

Oh. My. God. THANK YOU!! I did the regedit and the resolution values were all screwed up. After changing them to your suggested values I was able to see the dialog box and start the game like normal. This also fixed the problem that I was having with Defiance as well. Thank you SO MUCH for the help!
