DanSolo: I've been trying to get glide emulation to work like my non-gog version for a few hours. My hardware acceleration option is still greyed out (can't adjust.) I'm not even getting the nglide 3dfx splash screen. Replaced dosbox with the glide version by that chinese guy. Its like something IS NOT ALLOWING hardware acceleration in the gog version!
This topic is far from figured out imho.
tsot: On my system (Win 7 x64, Radeon HD 6470M) there are transparency problems with default ykhwong build. nGlide 0.97 looks much better, but there are some minor problems:
1. Game freezes on 3dfx splash screen - I have to switch to desktop and back to the game.
2. Mouse pointer is frozen - but when I click on left button it starts working.
3. There are some minor graphic glitches.
DanSolo: Tell me about it...;) As you can see, my "Men from the boys" contest post from a couple of days ago garnered me absolutely no respondents--which I think must be first for me...;) I'm trying to figure out if they didn't get the semi-joke and the attempt to spin a little humor around the fact that I can't get LoL2 to run in D3d mode no matter what I try--and like you, GLIDE emulation simply doesn't work for me, either.
Thus far, the people who have written in inside this thread saying it works have included only partial, easily misconstrued instructions as to how they got it to run, and when you ask them for a little *detail*-- please!--the silence is deafening....;)
It surely isn't the end of the world as I'm having a lot of fun with Lol1 at the moment which I've got looking as good as I think it will ever look and play. But, imo, Lol2 *needs* 3d acceleration as otherwise some of the low-res textures are just awful--and I've always been a fan of these games and bought them and played them when they were new.
What gives? Gog needs to step it up a little when it comes to obvious questions like this. Oh, and while I think about it--it's a good thing I didn't notice Gog's "We don't support Win7x64" notification--wherever it is hiding...;)--before I bought the my first dozen or so games from Gog over the holidays--else I might not have bought any of the games from Gog that I did! Hey, I'm glad I didn't see that disclaimer because every single one of the games I bought runs splendidly under Win7x64--some took a bit more tinkering than others and slightly more R&D--but every last one of them works fine.
Gog needs to understand that the Win7 installed base is fast approaching the number of WinXP& Vista seats combined, and that by the end of this year most people on earth will be computing with Win7. First of all, Win7 is based entirely on the Vista kernel--you might say that Win7 is simply Vista 2.x--so what's the big deal with Gog stepping up to officially support Win7? Seems like a no-brainer for Gog--besides, they are going to *have to* do it anyway if they want to remain a going concern beyond 2012. Not supporting Win7, on the eve of Win8 shipping (most likely in the 4th quarter of this year (2012)), is really ridiculous.
Come on, Gog--I love your products- I love your site--step up to the plate and join the 21st century...;)
