whenever I start up the game it shows the title screen and intro cinematic then just sits at a black screen.
am on linux

found something: when I try to run it from the folder I get an error in the terminal:

"ERROR: SDL failed to Init due to: Could not initialize UDEV"

double edit: you can ignore this. if anyone gets this problem in the future you need to install the packages listed under the right hand side in system requirements. such is the life of being new to linux I guess

Installing game dependencies solved the issue - I am gonna mark this thread as solved.

I know this is an old thread but I am trying to install Linux games, and La-Mulana runs as stated above but I don't find packages listed under the right hand side in system requirements, in fact I don't see anything related to system requirements or game dependencies.

I can't find it either, did you manage to run it in the end?

EDIT: Ok, I've found them on the store page of the game (https://www.gog.com/game/la_mulana) at the midle of the page in the category "System requirements" and the Linux tab. But even after installing the requirements (sudo apt install libc6 libasound2 libasound2-data libasound2-plugins libstdc++6 libx11-6 libxcb1 libxcursor1 libxext6 libxau6 libxdmcp6 libgl1), still the black screen... I already had all the requirements installed actually.

I gave up and in fact have given up on all Gog Linux games.
Nothing more annoying than d/l a 21GB file like Witcher2, which takes hrs for me, and finding similar issues with Linux versions.
None of them run for me, guess I'll stick to Windows, at least everything works there.
